A lot of the staff followed Maruyama and left around 2011. Or died in the case of Satoshi Kon.
Just look at all the talent that was madhouse before and how many of them have now made stuff with different studios.

Not saying nothing good can come out of madhouse anymore of course but there is a clear and crazy gap.

Dogakobo. They are making both AotS's this season, and the new Umaru looks promising. They need to make more Mikakunin or Sansha Sanyou to be perfect however.

Team Shinbo SHAFT will always be my favorite.

Xebec and Artland. These two gave me Mushishi, DYRL, LotGH, Fafner, 2199 and Keijo. Cant go up from that. Its as good as the medium will ever be.

Studio Bones or Madhouse.

KyoAni is also pretty cool with me.

Lerche has been impressive lately.

Xebec is one of my favorites as they know how to do fanservice right.
A-1 and JC Staff are all right too as they don't shy away from it when it is required by the source material.
