Can we talk about one of the most evil characters in anime ever? Why does Homura get a free pass? Because she's a lesbian? That's just yet another crime on her long list....

The girls are the witches and the witches are the girls. The series begins viewing the witches in a more sympathetic light. The Madokaverse also has an equivalent exchange-esque type thing going on, where you can't just go making big wishes like that willy-nilly because there will be 'exchange' or notable consequences. Saving a cat is one thing, but Madoka by the end wouldn't go making a big once in a lifetime wish that wasn't well thought out.
