season 2 is a bit more serious, it get worse before getting better.
Nene improves a lot in s2, I used to hate her in s1 now she's one of the best new games.
Kou is the opposite, but she's still cool. Just not as much as before.

People exaggerate the amount of drama it has, and the drama itself is pretty down to earth and gets resolved quickly. It's not some overblown shit like Hanayamata.
