Maybe if you like Asuka or ribbons, the first half focuses on 2 new characters and ribbons, the second half is on asuka and her mother issues, its more heavy on the drama and has barely any music, at one point the 1st years want to practice for the performance but one of the second years tells them to fuck off because they have drama problems.

I liked the first season better, it was more about adolescence and music and friends and getting better at playing as an ensemble
2nd season felt it had a lot of drama with asuka, especially during the second half, but it was still a very very very good product imo, half the time I was thinking how amazing it was

They're both great but season 2 simply failed to capture the magic of season 1. I remember when I watched S01E01 when it aired and it just blew me away because I was used to a different KyoAni by then.
