The rules were not explained at the beginning, deceiving the class into taking it easy. So it's not glorifying it.
The class has to work as a unit, so it's not extreme capitalism.
What really bothers me is how shallow the whole system is. The first scene in the bus said "everybody for themselves", and that's also along the lines of the point system, but the rest of the show does not.
You can't leave trash cans unsupervised when people are expected to fuck with your shit if there are no repercussions. Sure, there was a camera. But the fact that he didn't expect the camera (or any legal follow-ups) means that in his society it's not common for you to be punished for such behavior.
Basically, the whole show is a "What if" scenario but doesn't bother to actually think it through.

I guess I thought it was portraying capitalism because the show puts everyone with lots of points in leadership positions. Maybe the whole school is a testing ground for a meritocracy, though there are plenty of problems with that system.

It seems like the lower class levels have to work more as a team, while the upper classes don't have to work as hard because they are all already super talented.

The system does seem pretty shallow. It's like Hogwarts, but they don't state any criteria on how to get points. There might be rules that haven't come into play yet because the show needs to manufacture some DRAMA.

There's probably some huge tally of points at the end of the school year that allows the 'good' people stuck in shitty classes to move up. That might be why why the teacher said that Ayanokji was going do get separated from Class D.
