The placenta serves as a fetus' lungs, digestive system, and kidneys through the umbilical cord. I'd expect a centaur's cord to attach close to those organs, much like a horse's one, rather than on the humanoid bit up front. I'd still nibble on Hime's and blow raspberries on Shino's, but they do bug me a bit.
Birds, like Sassy, have yolk sac scars, which are really hard to see.
