How do you "manga is superior" guys feel emotion while reading? I have trouble getting really into what's happening without the music and voice acting that anime adds to the storytelling

You know a big part about enjoying manga is like, not having ADD and it helps to not be autistic too.

I'm autistic and I enjoy manga very much. This thread on the other hand is just bad.
>>
>>161280625
I didn't say I don't enjoy it, I just don't get as invested in what's happening.

What kind of music?

So you have no imagination and trouble immersing yourself in a fictional work. Do you also need pictures in your books to know what the characters look like?

>saying this while talking about manga

Are you trying to imply that liking one medium prevents you from enjoying others. Or that different mediums should have the same standards applied to them despite them being fundamentaly different.
>>

I'm saying that manga is 75% pictures

And?

Got to be honest not very fond of anime voice acting (raw and dub).

Kinda strange when you watch an anime and the voice of the character is completely different than what you imagine.
>>

i dont think that's necessary
i'm autistic as fuck and can still read manga

Read it aloud, and in the way you think each character would sound.

You have to not speedread it.

Humans (well, most humans) have two reading speeds: the same speed as speech, which goes through the part of the brain that handles listening to people, and "speedreading", which bypasses this and goes straight to the bit that understands language (this is also the bit you think to yourself with, which is also something you can do way faster than speaking speed). If you doubt this is the case, consider that most people can read a book in way less than the runtime of its audiobook equivalent.

If you're reasonably educated, speedreading will just be how you read, and the idea that you have to learn speedreading or even that it's called "speedreading" will seem kind of quaint.

But you will not enjoy fiction or poetry unless you slow down and read things at speaking speed. You need to start giving the characters voices, imagining what they sound like, and what tone they're putting into what they're saying. Of course a work is going to seem emotionally flat when every character sounds like your internal monologue. Of course you're not going to be engaged when the dialogue literally bypasses parts of your brain.

Indeed. To expand on this kind of idea - the more information your brain is processing, the harder it is to use your "imagination." To see what I'm talking about, try to imagine yourself lying on a beach while reading something, and while some kind of audio is going on in the background. Now do the same in a pitch black room with no sound. I guarantee you that you will imagine the beach much more clearly in the dark. That's because your brain is processing very little information and so it can draw on the image and feeling of a beach more effectively. It's like a computer. If your computer is using all its computation power on one thing, other processes will run slower. So it is indeed the case that if you read something slower, your imagination can process what is happening more effectively than if you speed read it.
