L being black is stupid, but shouldn't be a deal breaker. Yes it's trying to earn diversity points, but if the actor does a good enough job then fine.

L was super fucking secretive, to the extent that he wasn't just the number one detective in the world, but also number two and three under different aliases. Him wearing an outfit people wear to hide their identities is fine.

What's not fine is how see through Light seems to be. Light always managed to keep his composure under stressful situations, even if he was prone to overreact to provocation. If he knew that the man that sat in front of him is L, Light should already be prepared for a scenario where he is accused of being Kira would come up.

He would calmly assess the situation. He would be too prideful to play stupid, as if he didn't understand what L was implying. He fell for L's taunt on the TV. When L suspected Kira to be a student, he exclusively timed his murders to confirm he is a student, and that he knew of L's suspicions. He wouldn't even back down from tennis.

When this movie turns out horrible, they'll blame it on the racism instead of the bad acting.
