Hey. Dumping Sumire 16, a story about a cheerful girl and the mysterious old man who has his arm shoved inside of her. I scanned the first volume and the color pages, so I'm seeking an editor who is interested in supplanting the original scanlations, which used some shitty magazine raws and are 1100px or so.

Oh man, it's been awhile. Please dump, this shit is legit.
Excellent choice, OP.

I fucking love Sumire 16 Sai! Good taste, OP.

Whilst everyone was hyping this manga up in a thread a while back I decided to read it. Whilst I found it to be pretty enjoyable the ending lacked nearly the emotional punch that I was expecting. Still a good read though but leaves many things unexplained.

Anime when?
>>161248362I was seriously sure that woman was his daughter who tried to bring him home using his own methods, thus all the competition, and then skiing chapter happened.I don't even

What happened to the lines of her mouth?

I think it's like the live-action movie, where she looks more "human" during certain scenes. I'd have to re-read, though.
>>161248744
I think it was a missed opportunity not making Sumire an actual life-size ventriloquist doll in the live-action.
>>161248784
I think she was, in some scenes.
>>161249074
I like this delinquent girl already
>>161248784
It's been a while since I watched it, but I thought she was a life-size (maybe a bit short) puppet during most scenes, and a human girl during emotional scenes.
Im going to cry, i know it.

Cakes are cute.
>>161247612
Sumire sure is cute.

hell yeah
Im sad that the author is taking the old mans secret to the grave, all we really know is that hes been at this for years and that he started out in pre-school and worked his way up to high school where he started repeating himself.
Thanks OP, Sumire 16 is always an absolute joy to read. Old man best girl.
God bless you for storytiming this. I fucking loved Sumire.

I imagine the Old Man was a ventriloquist already, as well as a father. Then, his daughter was killed, and he took to ventriloquism to help her live out her life. He might've been a teacher, and friends with, at least, the highschool principal, and maybe with elementary and middle school principals, or future principals, too, if he really did work his way up.
The woman with her own puppet might've been his first daughter, trying to bring her father back, as has already been suggested in this thread.
His wife was likely already deceased when his daughter died.
Also, it's possible that he didn't work his way up, and those were just stories his daughter had told him of her school days, with him being imagined in by the girls, when he told them the stories. In this case, it's likely that his daughter died right before she got the chance to start highschool.
>mfw Sumire is literally my ideal waifu
Old man has some amazing taste.

Honestly, the worst thing he could have done would have been to explain anything. The mystery of the situation is part of the charm, and trying to explain it would take the focus away from the real point of the series, which is the effect that Sumire has on her friends. Also, almost nothing could have lived up to the expectations that the reader builds up, and anything too dramatic like >>161252217 would have spoiled the mood.
If you were dealing with a man coping with his daughter's death, or a woman trying to bring back her estranged father it would raise the emotional stakes well above the actual ending. It's hard to feel emotional about graduation when you're coming off of the death of a child.
