There were no good games in this mess. The tag would have been easy if any of the participants had the idea to sneak on horse face, lift him and throw him over the edge.
But the absolute worst was the wolf and sheep bullcrap, aka "haha everyone dies except one, how convenient for the plot".
And goddamnit making the slut suddenly have sex with the pathetic manchild.
>>
>>161226580
> lift him and throw him over the edge
dunno about that seems far-fetched to me
> the absolute worst was the wolf and sheep bullcrap
I'll give you that plotwise it was indeed very convenient. Then again I enjoyed that story path and thought that was emotionnally heavy
> making the slut have sex with the pathetic manchild
Yeaj what the fuck was that? Anyway, it gave me a huuuuuge boner.

>Best Game
Escalator quizz. It promotes teamwork and deceit at the same time so every individual can progress through the game based on their character, either they're willing to work together and have everyone clear the game or you can be a selfish piece of shit and make it out alive easier.

>Worst Game
Wolf and Sheep, for reasons mentioned above. It's too convenient for everyone to die just for shock factor but Arisu's buddy should have lived through the ending at least.
>>
>>161226824
So you're agreeing, nice. One of the rare things I enjoyed was the chuuni ninja faggot getting told the harsh truth: he's a fucking faggot incapable of getting by in real-life so he had to convince himself he'd be badass in a ruthless world, hence the tattoos. Which is all pathetic escapism.
Someone should convey the message to /k/ and their SHTF larp shit.

I kind of like the themes of each of the games.

>Diamonds
Fair, but only one person gets to live most of the time. Fits the view of the King, in trying to figure out the value of life.
>Spades
Games designed to kill as many people as people as quickly as possible.
>Clovers
Promotes unity, generally everyone lives or everyone dies. Requires people to take risks.
>Hearts
Fuck you games. Seriously, these games are just fucking cruel.

Favorite game in the series was King of Diamonds personally.

>>161231824
Watched them all, yeah.
My favorites are 3, 4 and 6. I frankly don't even know what the plot was even after multiple viewings, I literally just watch for the traps.

Anyway is this manga anything like that? Are there creative and brutal deaths?
>>
>>161234028
That's one of the reasons I enjoy Alice in Borderlands so much. The number of people that can solve problems is very high and the main character gets shelved enough times to let other people have the spotlight. And I like Arisu, but it was refreshing to shift perspectives as much as we did for the side stories. It made the entire cast feel relevant and a lot for some interesting situations where entire groups of players were killed off without having to hand wave how the main character survived.
>>
>>161233695

Bowling Alley and Airpot were great too.

Also infection.
>>
>>161234911
Lots of creative traps and brutal deaths, you're probably going to enjoy it very much.
>>
>>161234911

Not really, imagine Liar Game but you die when you fail the game. Most deaths remind me of Kamisama no Iutoori where they just explode in blood.

A manga with creative and brutal deaths, I don't think I've ever read one actually.

Me neither. It feels like Nips only like either extreme amounts of blood, or body horror. The Saw-esque torture device porn genre never caught on there, it seems.
>>
>>161235079
>Kamisama no Iutoori
Not the one you're replying to but I'm reading part 2 currently, I learned about the author through Isayama and I wanted to check out his work, already caught up on Jagaaaaaan and I'm planning to read Boku-Tachi Ga Yarimashita next. Is part 1 of KnI going to have an impact on part 2? Alice in Wonderland manga had so many plot holes, convenient situations for the MCs, character's personalities doing a complete 180, etc. I couldn't finish it, I dropped it when one legged Tomb Raider chick started helping the high school boy. Don't get me even started when the muscle guy suddenly started caring about said high school boy, after all the shit that he did previously.
>>
>>161235308
The characters of part 1 return, but I they get shat on. Part 2 is shit, it just gets worse and worse and the ending is terrible. It's sad because I loved the first part, I've reread it multiple times.
>>
>>161237010
>Alice in Wonderland manga had so many plot holes,
Such as?

>muscle guy
You mean the guy that killed his best friend and a bunch of innocent people and was looking to kill himself but clearly regretted all the innocent blood he spilled? Then we spent an entire volume and some change showing his growing fond of said kid?
>>
>>161238842
>You mean the guy that killed his best friend and a bunch of innocent people and was looking to kill himself but clearly regretted all the innocent blood he spilled? Then we spent an entire volume and some change showing his growing fond of said kid?

What? He literally started helping him the moment he the kid appeared, no apparent reason. The author "tried" to justify it by showing that muscle dude had some previous daddy issues, and because of that, he wanted to protect this random kid. It doesn't make sense, you don't commit COMPLETE GENOCIDE one day, and then just help a random kid you just met. Complete 180.
>>
>>161238742
Well, that sucks, I guess I should drop it for something else then
>>
>>161239156
Did you miss the hallucinations agni had related to this conversation? Unless I'm forgetting something he was his own guilt thank you over the massacre he did a few days prior that made him even try to help the kid out. And even then it was partially in a bid to help him take down the King of Spades.
>>
i thought it was pretty cool when outside of the other venues became the king of spades venue
>>
>>161226090
I have a mixed feelings about this manga, but the prison arc was absolute fucking glorious 10/10.
>>
>>161240417
>it was partially in a bid to help him take down the King of Spades
The kid was more of a liability, than actual help. Agni was even getting injured to help the kid. This is a kid he just met. Agni would have just let the kid die, instead of almost DYING multiple times trying to help the kid, if we went with logic. Those "hallucinations" you are talking about are not enough to actually go out of his way to save a random kid that has been nothing but a liability to a person that killed more than 100 people, in less than a day.
>>
>>161239413
You can still read it if you want, if you keep your expectations low you might even enjoy it. It probably would have ended up being better if was a monthly manga like the first part. It's strange that the writing became worse after it became a weekly manga when it's the same writer for Jagaaaaan (which is pretty good imo).
>>
does this series have an o my rubber nen moment?
its been a while but i cant remember any serious ass pulls
>>
>>161240707
Just looked at it, Doudo started following him and it wasn't until he mentioned that he had met Arisu that Agni decided to do anything. Nothing doesn't make sense here, Agni for all his rage has something of respect for the resolve that Arisu had in that previous game. He tried to replicate that to some degree to atone for his sins and even chides him for it in the form of a delusion of his friend.

Nothing is inconsistent here.

>>161240950
The biggest asspull I can think of was how the medical student was able to deduce the loan shark's number through some batman levels of logic.
>>
>>161240890

>>161228041
>>Hearts
>Fuck you games. Seriously, these games are just fucking cruel.
Honestly I can't see myself surviving any of the hearts games. Diamonds are a toss up since I'm not that smart, but unless the game is 10 of hearts level I think I could manage with a group. Clubs are mostly fair as long as you read the rules and don't run down the tunnel like a retard (it said 0km to the safe point). And Spades are a 50/50; either the game is a death trap from the beginning or you have a chance to fight back.

But hearts is some insidious stuff. Leaving you with the choice of your own life or putting it directly in group paranoia. I was confused why the skyscraper game was listed as hearts instead of diamonds until I realized that it wasn't about the players playing the system, but playing each other. No other category forces group cooperation out the window like these games.

>>161259465
The next series the author is working on. I can't read Japanese so all I can pull from this is that we have shifted from the venue style death games, and are now on more of a survival road trip.

Each player that wakes up in the new borderland has a card and it seems like collecting a full deck revolves around just killing individual players rather than competing in any explicit games although I have been missing chapters and they get locked behind a paywall once they hit the tanks.

Wiki says their goal is to get from Kyoto to Tokyo

>but more about human nature
The last chapter is very on the nose but yeah, it's a series about examining the characters with the framing of death games going in the background. Your motives and reasons for living and the questions about existence everyone has. What is the value of a life? Should we all just die if living is suffering? Do we take people with us or leave them behind? Do we value companionship or isolation? The series can be a bit heavy handed at times but I liked that instead of trying to focus on gore and insane traps, all the games barring a few feel like something anyone with enough money could rig up. That feel makes even speculating about who designed the trap and what values they had a worthwhile endeavor.

>>161258897
I'm glad that Arisu didn't get to completely steal her thunder in the 10 of hearts game when revealing the real culprit.

I am however disappointed that we didn't get to see her complete the Queen of Diamonds game. Her and two other characters (the Tranny and the Philosopher) clear games off screen and I wouldn't have minded a volume or two devoted to their games as well.

A true anime fan.

I'm glad they didn't cop out, personally. No "there's a way we can all win this game, guys!".
>>
>>161270658
I guess after reading the whole thing, I'm glad it just didn't end with them all still wanting to kill each other.
>>
>>161270361
It was heavy handed, but that's what made it interesting. The preachiness didn't rub me the wrong way. Some of the flashbacks were brutal, like the useless guy in the King of Clovers. "You are not your father" indeed.

Not a fan of the Don Juan mask, but it does get you to S Rank pretty easily.

Would you accede the position as a citizen of borderlands or abdicate it?
>>
Best manga that I have read.

Awesome conclusive story with so many various harmonizing element.

Even though I hate life, I would have probably gone back to being alive.

Borderlands would get boring after a while.

Though really sad his friends didn't survive.

Then again, everyone had the same chances, everyone was at the brink of death, it was a test of willpower. Only the ones with real will to survive made it through the whole ordeal.
>>

>everyone was at the brink of death, it was a test of willpower.
I know it's symbolic but goddamn some of the games really didn't feel like a test of willpower and were just outright FUCK YOU level of unfair.

Jack of Hearts was essentially impossible. Some of them were never intended to be fair.
>>
I dropped this after the beach arc finishes. What chapter is the prison arc?
>>
>>161274245
I think it's one of later Heart's game, almost at the end.
>>
>>161270658
I thought it was going to be "the person who sacrifices themselves wins because they are so noble" but then I was shocked when the rules weren't bullshit.
>>
>>161274245
Jack of Hearts
All King games are pretty solid too. Spades goes a bit overboard, but it's chinese cartoons after all.
>>
>>161274245
Wait why would you drop it after the Ten of Hearts? That's one of the best parts of the series.
>>
It was good but getting redundant. Also the militant faction's leader was characterized inconsistently.>>161276345

>militant faction's leader
I never knew that Agni was this polarizing. Your the second person in this thread to mention his characterization.
>>
>>161281357
The author went "h-he is a good guy!" Even though it was already established he tries to rape the girl.
>>
>>161284316
That was the crazy bandage guy, who was a villain from his introduction to the very end.
>>
>>161284535
The guy who said "send the girl to my room"?
>>
>>161284316
Wait the guy with the sniper rifle or the buff guy? Buff guy wanted to fuck Usagi
>>

Fuck you I thought I was done binge reading shit, I've now slept 1 hour of the past 36 hours

>>161243278
Fuck you for making me feel like a slow reader. I don't remember the post count for when I started but you're still an ass.

At least I didn't spend 3 days this time like when I read One Piece from start to ~ch. 700

Agni's beach persona is part of the facade he set up with #1, their whole operation being based on their own concept of "good" given the circumstances. Of course, that doesn't excuse rape, but it offers a couple possible ways to explain the act that aren't "dude's just horny as fuck and has no respect for people".
Agni sperging out during the witch hunt is kind of inexcusable though, I agree. He's shown to regret it deeply, and I don't believe the author really went "he's a good guy I swear", but it's kind of hard for the reader to sympathize with a walking genocide, redemption arc or not.
>>
>>161285685
>>161284535
Remember the militant leader comes, says he wants to lay the girl that was with mc, so the mc has to side with #1 for protection?
>>
>>161284847
>>161286077
I don't really remember that happening. It's possible I was completely wrong.
>>
>>161286049
His sperging out at the witch hunt I think was I think in character. He pretty much betrayed his best friend, found out that his best friend always had trusted him, and that despite his crazy act as the Mad Hatter, was still the guy he knew and loved deep down inside. Like he was only acting so crazy because he himself was looking for hope and was genuinely pressured by huge responsibility.

By that point Agni probably just wanted to get rid of everything and take the cowards way out. He was hellbent on destroying everything because he couldn't face the fact that he had really fucked up and was lashing out on everyone else.
>>
>>161286251
No that was definitely Agni. It was right after he got back from the zoo game and he definitely wanted to take usagi to pound town. With or without her consent.
>>
>>161229678
that was a great page, i saved it when I first read the series.

>>161226090
I'd have died long ago, some of those games required a genius level I.Q, and you can't know what suite-type you're playing until it's already begun. Oh and I'm fat.

Best game was vs King of Clubs, Nudist was the bomb

So I reread ch 17 and the first thing Agni does is walk up to Usagi and ask if she's a newcomer. The Sniper dude who turns into a mummy is the one who says Agni's wants the girl. Then Arisu butts in, and Agni says bring the girl to his room.

But I think it was all a front, and that the sniper would probably rape the girl instead, like a deal since he was Agni's man. It was the sniper who said Agni wanted her, but he was the one who nearly raped her, after all. And Agni can't just say he just wanted to ask the newcomer isf she was one and just leave it at that. Or maybe I'm just overthinking and the author didn't fully characterize him until later.
