Nanto is actually just developed based of one branch of the Hokuto family tree (not the main one mind you).

Raoh was one of the better character. His idea for peace in the post-apocalyptic world was arguably more efficient than Kenshiro's (i.e. just rule everything with martial power)

Kenshiro very much wanted the best of the old world back, Raoh wanted a more despotic approach (disbelieving that most of the savages could be made to integrate civilization any soon). The fucking theme song's title is "I will bring back love!" for shit's sake, Kenshiro was just more idealistic and willing to believe in the world's redemption (he is the fucking savior of century's end after all)

I found that it wasn't really as tragic as it had and has been made out to be in these threads. What happened was unfortunate, but the narrative just wasn't how it needed to be in order to produce a proper 'tragic' story. I don't know why; it just felt slightly hollow.

I've read a few of the translated gaiden stories and Toki's gaiden story was outstanding. The first couple of volumes which were about Amiba and the village of miracles weren't great, but once Raoh became a prominent figure it became incredible. The fight between Toki and Raoh in that gaiden was great, it was emotionally impactful as the original and allowed a much more detailed look at Toki's thoughts and motivations than the original manga did.

And, as with every big moment in Fist of the North Star, I cried manly tears. It might have it's flaws but Fist of the North Star is the best manga of all time, there;ll never be anything like it again.

Have we ever seen Toki at 100%, without the radiation sickness?
