My opinion now: Sarada doesn't really fit as a wife for Boruto, but instead of a best friend thing like Tsunade was to Jiraiya.

Sarada would kill his blodline, if she marries an Senju/Uzumaki or an Hyuuga. It would be a pretty big deal for them to kill the Uchiha family not counting Shin, who doesn't even have Uchiha bloodline.

And in that case it looks like Mitsuki is just made for her. Artificial blood, which is perfect to revive the Uchiha clan. They are on the same team and pretty much the Sasuke&Sakura of this gen. While BoruSumi is a reversed NaruHina and them sharing a strong bond after the ghost incidents (not speaking about both having seals and Boruto's Jougan being somehow connected to her Nue). With that, BoruSumi doesn't feel like some forced ship like SasuSaku or to an lesser extend NaruHina, since both seems to actually care for each other.

My honest opinion about the whole shipping thing.

Those things are additions, but necessary additions, which are expanding the plot of the manga. Toneri actually being involved to the Jougan and Boruto KNOWING that he has that eye still must be shown in the manga. Where was that shown in the manga?

If not, then all those things are part of a canon part of the story, which automatically makes them relevant to the plot. It's not just Boruto's eye, but also Sasuke using the information of the Gozu Tennou to actually travel to Kaguya's dimension. The reason why they never showed up Metal's team etc.

The anime was clearly ment to be a prequel to the manga, which adds stuff the manga couldn't do because they started with the movie plot, so they can leave the new stuff to the anime so the manga can get ahead.

You know a lot has changed with the anime right? Like Boruto's personality, that's why it feels so out of character when he acts like Kishi's version. Before the anime, almost nothing about the main plot of the anime existed in place. No Ootsutsuki clan, no invasion, no tattoos or Jougan. Ever since the movie and Gaiden were done, a lot of things have changed, and the manga started making the changes, the anime is the complete version of all the changes they did.
