They are not barren. That is why there are half-elf villages. However when half-elves reproduce with each other, there is a random chance that the offspring would be a full-human or a full-elf. This is REALLY problematic for the parents, as you might realise. A full human meant the child would die before the parents. A full Elf has dietary requirements that a poor family couldn't support.

The Green Dragon and the Earth God are literally the same being. The three continents tend to name each of the dragon gods with a different title but they are all still the same six dragons.
