Pre-Rose Meruem, yes. It was explicitly stated he posed a danger to the King. Otherwise Pitou wouldn't have said so.

And we know losing limbs doesn't mean you lose a fight, Hon sacrificed his limbs in Greed Island, and Hisoka did against Kastro (which was otherwise a curb-stomp of a fight)

Adult Hon vs Meruem Pre Rose is probably the only straight Power Level match up we can imagine from Hunter x Hunter, since neither have any complicated Hatsu

If Gon-san and Meruem had fought, the possibility of Meruem dying would have at least been on the table. Gon wouldn't necessarily have had a terribly high chance of killing Meruem, but he was strong enough to pose a serious threat and could potentially kill him if he got a bit lucky.

Meruem is a genius, while Gon's an idiot with anger issues. The winner is obvious.

The adult Gon we saw was consumed with rage and acting on pure instinct. Normally Gon fights with some form of cleverness and strategy (Like against Hisoka), so I think if adult Gon was cool headed then he'd have a much higher chance of taking on Meruem
