>Seriously, Euphemia, anyone would have to follow my commands! Like if I told you, oh, I dunno, Kill The Japanese...
That sounds like a stupid command. Why would you want that? Aren't you fighting for Japanese liberty?
Is this all just a game to you?
Jeez Lelouch, you are so silly. Why would you say these particular words in this situation?

Uhhhh seemed like a good idea at the time?

It had a funny aftermath, but this will never not irk me

Consider it a sub-conscious move on Lelouch's part.

Personally, never really bothered me. It made sense in the situation. There were thousands of Japanese gathered there and Euphy was on their side, so in that situation, ordering to kill them is the most extreme thing he could say. He used that as an example to tell that there's really nothing he can't order. The only part I felt was bullshit was his eye going out of control that very moment. If it had started going crazy an episode or two ago, but Lulu just didn't notice, it would've been far more satisfying to watch the massacre.

Once I figured out that Code Geass was more about spectacle and drama instead of bouts of intense strategy and logic, the show became a lot more enjoyable and a moment like this becomes less bad because, while it isn't the best writing, the tragedy of the event and the intense drama that follows is fun to watch. I wish I realized this sooner, as the early episodes probably would've been a bit more enjoyable.

It's still kind of bizzare. I think most people would have said something like 'hop on one foot and bark'.

It works best as a self-parody. The hilariously ridiculous writing (OP being a prime example) and stilted character drama just makes it a complete failure as the serious philosophical epic it wanted to be.
