Zoro isn't so powerful that he can just cut the entire birdcage in a single strike, not to mention he was done kicking Pica. He COULD cut a section of the birdcage off, but that would just give him and the people in close proximity a way to get out. Helping with the pushing (eventually) slowed the whole thing down, which was a better plan to save the people in Dressrosa

Oda has this habit of making people way too fucking overpowered to a degree that is completely ridiculous. I always imagined the DoFlamingo arc ever since he was introduced in that Shichibukai meeting and I expected it to be something like DoFlamingo not being all that powerful but being incredibly good at manipulating shit with his strings, making the crew fight each other and shit like that. Bellamy was the single most unneeded part of Dressrosa. His story adds absolutely nothing. If it had to be used, it probably would have been better if they put the "loyalty despite getting fucked over" part to Viola, who has conflicted feelings about Doffy.

I really can't argue with that. Fights are considerably more interesting when Luffy can't be hurt by blunt attacks. Obviously he has Gear Fourth and is still rubber when using haki but that can be overpowered as shown with Cracker. I still think the whole "My haki stronger than yours" is still nothing more than "My punch is stronger than yours" as far as power levels are concerned, haki is no different from saying "I can puncher harder than you"

To be fair, he had several plans that involved keeping her safe.
