I've definitely found Misaka to be pretty effective at clearing crowds but not that much more than Touma played well.
Stiyl's ranged options kind of suck, I think the longest range option that isn't a special is a 3x fast attack then 1 slow which is just too clumsy to use. And specials take too long to charge to rely on them.

Yeah, I was also talking about boss fights though. Didn't have great luck with Misaka against bosses since she doesn't do as much damage and the range really just isn't enough for her to be better than Touma.

If you want to outrange someone with stiyl, the all you need to do is sit at your maximum range for the heavy attack and circle around
your opponent while doing it, works everytime, of course though Accel and others also vary but Touma is supposed to be the guy who can at least do everything he needs well enough

The heavy attack maximum range isn't even very long. That wouldn't help much for the Aogami Index bossfight for example. The best strategy I've found for that is staying outside the range and quickly closing in to deal heavy damage with a quick combo from Touma. Characters that can't spam damage with a short combo or that don't have more range are just no good.

Speccing pure damage on The Motherfucking TouMAN appears to result in a level 17 imagine breaker killing 1/2 the health of a reasonably well health-specced LEVEL 25 TOUMA.

No but it definitely helps against Misha and Accel, for Aogami Index all you need to do is light jump and air attack until stamina is broken.
Stiyl is good at breaking stamina and setting up for a team attack, as it is they gave you all the proper tools to do most if not all of the content

Light jump and air attack would take forever. I just dash and close in with Touma and do a fast strong combo and then run away again. Maybe it's because I've got runaway speed cards but it works pretty well. Air attack is a pain in the ass and didn't work well when I tried it.
