That's not the problem, the problem is rather Toei. Futari Wa was also intense and had scary moments but not everything has to be rainbows and happiness for little girls to like it, they liked the intense and scary moments as well because that's what gets you to the edge of your seat wanting to not lose a second of what's happening.
Problem is Toei producers are old farts too scared of that alienating the young ones because they can't feel shit about the series other than "I want money". They don't understand what made Precure unique on the first place.

I'm really enjoying Kirakira because it is trying different things and has a unique artstyle, but they can't ignore Precure needing dramatic intense fighting, otherwise it stops being Precure.

Eh, Maho was a drag for me to go through with its first half too but then it got steadily better and became genuinely somewhat enjoyable at the end (Not counting ep 50)
But Kira on the other hand, I just find it to be... not quite right, I don't even know what it is, but that thing keep pushing me away from continue watching Kira.
Usami hogging the screentime all the time? Doki was just that and I watched it just fine.
Akira is a boring cardboard cut out excuse of a character? Other Precure seasons have that sort of character too and I don't really mind it.
Fairies are annoying? FW and MH exists.
Boring villains? Maho beats Kira to it.
All in all, I really want to keep up with the season but I just couldn't find the motivation to. Please tell me at least something good happens lately so I can somehow force myself to watch it.
