I'll do it if you post the page which says Yoshi "fought for it", I know that he agreed at first because he's not good with anything romantic and I can buy him trying to tone it down to make it work, but I don't see him fighting for it, especially if it was said that Akko's reasons to get better were about to get distorted by the romance and not for herself if they went down that path.

There isn't a page that explicitly states it, but it's obvious. A single writer is not powerful enough to demand concessions. In a studio, you can be tasked with writing a character and then your entire idea can be thrown out the window at a moment's notice. As a writer, you need to deal with it. There's no way that a supposed concession episode was allowed without Yoshinari directly supporting it / fighting for it. If he says nothing, it is just another idea that is sent to the chopping block.
