I saw some clips that are clearly harkening to Shizu's introductory story, which was the Colosseum story that was also covered by the forst anime. It would be reasonable to go over it again, since it IS where Shizu and Riku first appeared in the novels, and not everyone going in to this show will have watched the original from 2003.
Also, given the promo image revealed earlier this week shows Tea, Master, and Partner, I'm inclined to believe this reboot will cover later stories from the novels too.
