Fate Zero threads were fun and always discussing the show, making memes, and any fighting was about the characters conflicts and who was right/wrong but was content of the show. By the end of it, everyone was hyped and excited for HF.

The FSN [HF] announcement. Seeing Shitaya come out to huge cheering, more then the UBW announcement just before, and then she started crying on stage while talking about how happy she was for the moment to finally come.

While FSN [UBW] threads were full of cancerous and entitled whiners who protested over the smallest chances and never actually discussed, they just kept bringing meta bitching about muh secondaries and muh flawless VN with barely any actual discussion of the episode. I remember how the livestream thread on 4chan was actually civil with everyone happy and celebrating for pretty much exactly an hour before it completely degenerated into the shitposting that characterised the UBW threads. It was good while it lasted I supposed

Leaving aside the fact that the text and the images NEED coding to present themselves like you see in the visual novels (TM has used th kirikiri engine since Tsuki-bako, and Mahoyo has a lot of coding for every damn effect for the text and images), it's not that easy to do a game with a lot of text and arrange it so it makes sense.

Also, it's not that easy to make every design for every thing in the novel. Mahoyo has around 35,000 images (and a lot more which are the ones I don't wanted and just discarded with everything in their folder), going from character faces, to some random tree from the forest.
And everything needed to be coded for the images to look like they do, which is diferent to most visual novels out there (that's the reason why it's called kinetic novel). Just take a lot at the code for a simple part from Mahoyo, the "All About Ploy #1" accessed through the menu. It's pretty short in game, and very simple, but it has a lot of code for every effect on the screen. So, it's not that easy as you think.

Another thing to consider would be the plot. Making the game could be easy, but the plot comes from Kinoko, and if he isn't making any progress with that, there's no way that they can make it or even with the engine if there is nothing to make with it.

FGO is an inconsistent mess besides just being a bad game in general. Only readable when Nasu decides to work on it, the blandest self-insert protag, no characters except mostly one-dimensional Servants of variably shitty designs, recycled designs galore... It's quantity over quality: the game.

FSF has just kind of lost the hype of its initial set-up thanks to FGO completely trivializing Servants and ruining its "stupidly high power levels" gimmick. At least there's still some cool Master characters.

TM in general has just moved away from the introspective stories that it became known for in favor of mass appeal shit. Nasu writing something like that again by himself while exploring the universe as a whole instead of the same tired setting/elements would be the way to redeem it.
