Koshien is such great fun to watch every year. It's the summertime of youth, filled with beautiful human drama. On one side you have the ecstasy of triumph and the incredible joy of making history together with your trusted nakama. On the other, you have crushed dreams and the bitterness of regret, knowing that you tried so hard and got so far but in the end it didn't even matter. I especially love it when the losers tearfully scrape up commemorative dirt with an array of photographers snapping shots not a meter away, with audible sobbing in the background.

Yes, big comebacks are more common than people would think even in the pro leagues.
However that game made me really upset, it was obvious from previous games that the ace wasn't in his best condition, the coach made him play from the seventh onwards and he just watched how the kid lost 7 runs and he did nothing.
Also I remember some years ago the ace of the same team literally melting down in the mound after going full 11 innings.
This kind of shitheads shouldn't coach in big teams, let alone coach at all.

Because the team aspect is strong at the same time that the sport is good at showcasing individual talent. The former comraderie is a huge part of sports manga appeal while the latter is excellent for highlighting inter-team rivalries and growth arcs.

Doesn't koshien start soon? Anyone know where to watch it? I'm a little curious after reading so much about it.
