How do the EVA's get to the surface from Central Dogma if the space between it and the the GeoFront and to Tokyo 3 is just empty space?
How do they get up there so fast if there is no actual railing or chutes connecting to Tokyo three from the GeoFront? Think about it.

I watched them for the first time last week, abd they're not the gigantic dumpster fire they're made out to be, but they sort of betray the original characters arcs, and pacing of the show in favor of movie character establishment and animu action scenes.
You'll see it gets worse from movie to movie.

Either way even if they're awful, you should still watch them so you can understand.
If you have questions though, just know that - no - there's probably not really an explaination for whatever you're asking.
Movie does some things right though. But they're over-shadowed by glaring issues.
Watch for yourself, keep these things in mind, and make your own opinion.

I haven't read the manga, but I heard the characterization and the story is much more straightforward than in the anime (which can be convoluted at time).
The manga finished a few years ago, and there is one last rebuild movie currently being made, which will release probably next year or 2019.
If you really want to catch on the hype, I guess you can watch the rebuilds, but really, don't expect anything good from them. The only reason they're watchable is because you already know the characters and major story beats (though there are minor and major differences, and the third movie is completely original).

My headcanon is that the plug-in energy/battery was for the technological parts, including the ones allowing a pilot to synch and bridging the A10 nerve. So without energy the Eva could not synch, and it's been confirmed that syncing is required to get her moving.. But she could still go berserk on her own, or the pilot could achieve a high enough synch level, to make artificial syncing unnecessary.
