And discuss:
1. Why /a/ likes it
2. Why few others do
>>160832388
Every show that is liked by /a/ is also like by reddit. The only shows this might not apply to are some really niche CGDCTs.
>>160832606
Does Reddit like FF?
Let's see:
As for why the show wasn't popular:
1. Relatively unknown studio
2. Unknown director
3. Poorly marketed
4. Not particularly well-known VAs
5. First half of the show was world-building SoL
6. The actual plot was rather messy
7. One of the MCs (Papika) was hardly developed.
As for why it was popular here.
1. The girls were hella cute.
2. The VAs did a really good job.
3. The yuri tones were nice.
4. The animation was good.
5. The OST, OP and ED were fantastic.
6. The world-building SoL part was great.
7. DAIDAIDAIDAISUKI.
>>160833102
One of the top animes there.
>>160832606
no way man /a/ is better and has better taste than le plebbit 4chan is the best ever
>>160833102
Yes.
/a/ and /r/anime aren't as different in taste as they used to be.
I wish this show had been 2 cour. The plot would have made way more sense if it was fleshed out more and there would have been more opportunities for more mindfuck episodes like the Iro one.
I wish this show didnt have a plot
It was by far the weakest part
>>160833102
The only people who dont like FF are people who a) are blind b) cant get into the arguably niche combination of genres c) are assmad over not seeing the obvious hints throughout the show. From a visual standpoint there is hardly a way to refute the fact that its the best visually directed TV feature of the decade. Framing, color palettes, overall design are completely mindblowing with the BDs being available now.
>>160833124
>4. Not particularly well-known VAs
Mao?
>>160832606
Never seen lain on leddit
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:creators
princess floppers
And the answer to both questions is: bad taste
>>160833517
Why would you see a lot of discussion about old shows on a page with 90% CrunchyRoll subs? Hell, these sort of shows arent even discussed here. Lain posting is literally that: Lain posting. There is no actual debate about the show itself, its just picture dumps of Lain.
>>160833556
On /a/'s part?
>>160832388
Is there ANYONE who doesn't think Flip Flappers isn't the most complex anime ever made?
FlipShitters ain't popular here. Get the fuck out newfaggot.
>>160833737
This Aho actually has a point. FF threads usually are being bombed by mentally handicapped retards. Question is: Are they the majority or a vocal minority? We wont ever find out
>>160833622
OP said shows only liked on /a/
>>160835116
Actual answer. I rarely see this outside /a/ and I don't know why.
>>160832388
Akame ga Kill.
1. The hype train and being original.
2. Anime intellectuals think is too pretentious and childish.
I miss my etos
>>160832388
1. Because /a/ has shit taste
2. Who gives a shit
>>160832388
But Fail Floppers wasn't popular on /a/.
It just had an extremely vocal and small fan base.

Keijo is a masterpiece, dont you dare shittalk it
No other place has the intelligence to truly understand Gochiusa; the GREATEST show of the decade.

Keijo? That should be Yuri on Ice.

>>160835627
Being a meme doesn't mean it's bad. JoJo is fun as hell and it's practically designed to be a mem
>>160833138
Is it per chance the same crowd that considered Bakemonogatari a masterpiece?
>>160836165
>yayacuck
>>160835593
god what the fuck happened in 2014?
Aria. Not popular as in liking, but as in people actually watching it. If you go on normie sites or review channels on youtube, it's practically unknown (most popular critique video on youtube about it has something like 10000 views, the most popular videos are the extent OST tracks). Everyone loves it though, so I can't come up with a reason for its relative lack of exposure. I don't see it come up in favorites lists either, though it's absolutely my favorite.
Why /I/ like it:
>maximum comfy
>beautiful art direction (don't you shittalk it, I swear to god I'll hunt you the fuck down)
>OST and sound production is perfect
>You can really tell how much passion and effort the entire cast put into it, shit they even added in a scene with Alicia after a company trip to Venice
>It's a masterclass in character-centric writing, ep 23 of the Natural being my go-to example
>And on and on and on
>people here who actually know what's popular on reddit
>people here who think flop floppers is popular on /a/
>>160832388
1. Buyfags liked this show and even non buyfags start building one
What is this meme about FF having just a small but vocal minority of fans here? Even as someone who doesn't like the show, if anything, /a/ is where most of its fans gathered, and the threads were always active.
>>160838086
You know a show is good when the threads get filled with shitposters trying to ruin the fun. Bad shows are ignored because anons don't argue to defend them.
>>160838531
So basically a show is good if autists defend it.
>>160838716
Really?
1. Sometimes /a/ gets things right
2. Too good for this world
>>160832388
FF is generally well liked in the west.
>>160832388
It was only popular in its circlejerk containment.

It was popular here?

MAO is one of the biggest rookie VAs in the industry.
>>160835328
Wut
Akame Ga Kill is extremely popular among casual shitters
>>160835593
Haha I made this
>>160837326
I thought it was more /u/'s anime.
My reference is bad since I rarely go to those places, but from what I see, heroine shows in general, like Symphogear or Yuki Yuna have a stronger presence in here than all other places.

>Maidragon instead of Kemono Friends

>>160833415
Mob Psycho was legitimately more arthouse and better directed than Flip Flappers was. And that was only in the same year, FF really wasn't the best looking show of the decade.
>>160844012
>Mob Psycho was legitimately more arthouse
You dont even seem to know what "art house" stands for. Mob Psycho is the exact opposite of it so please refrain from using terms that you celarly dont understand.
>better directed than Flip Flappers
From a visual standpoint? Hardly. It simply made effective use of overly dramatizing scenes and dragging them into the absurd.

this

Fuck off kemonobrony.
>>160846745
>>160843765
Not him but at least the thread topic fits better.
Maid Dragon was as FOTM as it gets and was everywhere around the net.
KemoFure is massive in Japan and that's about it. The fact it's pretty damn popular around /a/ makes it a good candidate.
>introduce some loli evil character
>does literally nothing
>next time she is seen she is on the side of the good guys, no explanation is given
>still does literally nothing so it doesnt matter anyway
>show ends
is this a case of 2deep4me
>>160848487
No, its a case of people overthinking stuff. She was literally introduced to show that Yayaka is replaceable. No other reason. People whining about how the character didnt do anything are mentally disabled. Might as well complain about every single side character ever introduced and ask why animation budget was wasted on them.
>next time she is seen she is on the side of the good guys, no explanation is given
Thats not true. She was about to shoot Sayuri until Yayaka took her gun. Prior to that she was shown to not even have any deeper feelings towards the org/yuyu and toto. It isnt executed well, but there also isnt much of a reason to believe that shed just switch sides. She had no actual affiliation.
>>160848934
*that she wouldnt just switch sides
>>160832606
Only way you'd know reddit likes something is if you frequent it.
>>160848934
>She was literally introduced to show that Yayaka is replaceable
if their only option was some shithead little girl with no loyalty then she wasnt exactly very replaceable
>>160851060
Well I mean she obviously wasnt, since she was the teams leader. But they wanted to give her that impression anyway since she stood out from the team as being the actual normal(?) human being. By the time she is replaced they almost "won" already anyway so I guess you can book that under overconfidence or their inability to acknowledge Yayakas value. Kinda had their hand forced anyway since she betrayed them to a certain extend.
