It literally is. The people literally live just to work in Japan with very little time for self. It has taken a toll on their immune systems which is just barely existent. A certain voice actress literally died from it.

It makes perfect sense. Immune systems are trained by exposure. Genetic variety increases the variety of immunities in your population.
Of course this doesn't mean a country should be running a 15%+ immigrant pop. That way leads to guaranteed disaster. But a sprinkling of xeno spices does help.
