Actual (random, yet point of interest) spoilers from ShinobuMonogatari:

-For one thing, we're all fucking morons. The title of this arc is "Shinobu Mastered", not Mustard as we've all been using for months.

-Sodachi only has one line in the novel. At one point due to reasons Araragi is looking to people for help with basic things, and needs people to make food. So he's calling people and making a mental list of "success" and "failure" in who he ropes in. Kanbaru is a success, as he calls her up and basically goes in his usual Koyomin way,"Kanbaru, could you to be my slave tonight as usual, and make me food?" to which she just goes 'yup'. But because RRRG is distracted and an idiot he then immediately calls Euler and goes "Sodachi, be my slave tonight too and please handmake a meal for me," To which she replies,"Don't think you'll even live till tonight." and hangs up.

-Shinobu doesn't really remember or feel much about her time when she was Human prior to being Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Heart-Under-Blade, and this is because that Acerola-hime part of her was split off into a kind of separate existence (think Piccolo and Kami).

-Araragi has made one new friend, Hamukai Meniko (female), in college. Since she's the first completely non-kaii related, non "kaii-problems-brought-us-together" friend he's made since turning his life around, he values her alot. She's a little bit like Aoii in Zaregoto. She's a bit of a genius when it comes to code breaking and similar things.

-This was all common sense due to what we already knew, but Araragi lives at home and commutes to school via his yellow bug. Since this takes place just around the same time NadeMonogatari and shortly after HanaMonogatari, Koyomi is still rocking that hideous long-ass hair style for the entire book.

-Actual (barebones) plot spoilers follow. The crux of the book, as has been talked about, revolves around a series of kaii attacks mostly on members of the Naoetsu high girls basketball team. The attacks suck all the blood out and mummy-ize the victims, although they are still """alive""", essentially failed vampire turnings. The first victim is just out and out missing, and there are three other mummies (a fourth turns up midway).

Gaen recruits Arararararagi to solve the mystery as her 'agent' on the promise that she will leave him alone completely till he graduates college, and make sure others do too. Surprisingly, Gaen isn't really that good with mystery-solving stuff and isn't really proactive, she basically just coordinates and uses other people and their knowledge and skills.

The novel plays out like a mystery/detective work, albeit monogatari style. The first half, give or take, is about getting to the point where Koyomi and co. find out about Deathtopia SuicideMaster being alive again and in town and finding her. This involves meeting up with Kanbaru and her friend Higasa (who cameo'd in Hana but becomes much more of a character here) to gain info on the volleyball victims/ The latest one left a dying (living) message on her phone in code. Solving the code takes a bit and requires the help of the aforementioned Hamukai and a bunch of Nishioishin word/number fucker, to eventually get to Deathtopia's initials as a calling card.

The novel's second half has some twists and turns. You, the reader, given monogatari flow and tradition, are lead to believe that they will track down Deathtopia, have verbal sparring, get into a brief fight with her, and then she'll be beaten with hax or talk-no-jutsu's into submission. None of this is what happens whatsoever. It turns into the classic mystery/detective "here is the obvious culprit which fits all the evidence, but is it REALLY this person? Or are they being framed, is it a red herring?".

For Deathtopia is in a state of death/sealing and was buried herself. Hence why, if you read the one chapter Mirrored Translations did, they're having a ceremony to "resurrect" her. A lot of people get involved by this point like Ononoki and Hachikuji (who, despite being 'god', is more like Gaen's bitc--I mean errand girl). There is a bunch of cute Shin-Onoki-Kuji loli trio interaction like in Shinobu Time.

In the end, though various ordeals, Araragi first reasons out that Deathtopia (who hadn't eaten anyone in 600 years) isn't responsible. Rather, the first of the victims, one Kiseki Souwa, the one who just flat out vanished, got turned by DVS and used her new powers to take out SuicideMaster herself (food poisoning, don't ask) and went to town on her team using her name.

But then there's a double twist where it's revealed that she is ALSO a red herring/framed, and the true culprit is the very first mummy-ized girl that was found, Harimaze Kie. The prologue of the whole novel opens with Kie's POV and how fucking miserable she is with her life and ends with her getting vamped. The narrative trick being it wasn't to give readers a glimpse of the first victim to set the stage, but the ""Birth of a Supervillain"" moment. Kie might end up being the new Math, or at least something along those lines, because she's mentally fucked in Nishio's typical study in mental paradoxes, I-did-kaii-once-and-now-I'm-so-FUCKED-in-the-head that he loves.

Anyway, they deal with Kie (this involves Gaen giving up since it's so serious and calling in Kagenui for full rampage mode, for those who were jonesing for her), which fixes her victims, and Deathtopia leaves the city, almost certainly to show up later.

The entire novel is about Shinobu's vampire 'Master', Deathtopia, and figuratively about her relatioship with Araragi and how much she's changed and in part the contrasts between the stages of her life.

On the second hand, the vampire master/thrall lineage plays a big part in the twists and unraveling the mystery from DVS, to Kiseki Souwa, to Harimaze Kie.

Other random tidbits.

At one point Araragi decides he needs to seriously punish himself for stuff he feels guilty about. The punishment he comes up with is "going to visit Sodachi at her new digs to try and play around and have a good time". Which as a further note seems to mean that this is post breakup #1 as detailed in Musubi.

Araragi crashes a pajama party at Kanbaru's place with some of the other basketball girls to funny results. If you remember the reaction Kanbaru got in Hana when her classmates learned she as textbuddies with the "famous Araragi-senpai?! THAT Arararagi-senpai?!" There's more of that.
