>>160651528
I love Nobuhiro Watsuki so why not?
>>160651626
No you don't.
>>160651528
Will there be Soujiro?
>>160651528
Watsuki still can't make anything else successful, huh.
>>160651885
That's not how you spell seijuro
>>160652096
There was Buso Renkin. lol
>>160651528
I want to believe Watsuki is coming back to this because he has a great idea on how to follow it and not because he doesn't know what else to do but come back to the only thing that really worked for him. But Kenshin's story was pretty fucking closed at the end of the manga, and I don't know how is he going to justify him being the main character again (which his editor confirmed, he will be). Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu was said to be unusable at the end of the manga and Kenshin passed his sword to Yahiko.
>>160652283
I wish Embalming was more popular
>>160652308
The history have a end , and TWO prologues, the carácters don't have motivation anymore, etc...
Nobuiko is clearly desperate.
I will read it if it includes the two best boys.
>>160651528
For fuck's sake why?
>>160651528
Not to be downer, but I just can't get behind this. The series had a near perfect ending so there is literally no reason to continue the story. Watsuki is obviously just trying to make some quick and easy money; hopefully he doesn't ruin his most popular series in the process.
>>160652320
That was his last series before doing more Kenshin right?
>>160653853
yeah
10 volumes too, just like Buso Renkin
If it has best girl Megumi I might follow it.
>>160653848
You're not alone. He's been making new reboots and the one prequel with Shishio for a while now. People will still be willing to read new content through.
>>160653853
Not really, because he put it on hiatus multiple times to do some Kenshin, it was just filler he published between Kenshin
>>160653848
Always fucking remember. Making a new anything does not negate whatever there already was.
There's no "ruining" anything you absolute autist. Dragon Ball is a fantastic 519 chapter manga with or without Super's existence.
>>160651528
Will they be using the redesigns? Posting Kamatari, because "she" was my first trap crush. Gave me so many confused boners as a middle schooler.
>>160657822
You say that, but then GTO: Paradise Lost and Shaman King Flowers exist
>>160658448
>Kamatari in a thong
L-lewd!
>>160651528
So many WSJ mangaka can't get another hit after their initial success and have to go back to their old series.
How come the Shonen Sunday and Magazine people are having better results with their careers?
>>160658965
not as much pressure?
better editors?
who knows
>>160652283
Loved Buso Renkin. Too bad it didn't seem to get that much attention.
>>160653714
Saito is hot af
>>160658796
That's a fundoshi, which is normal underwear for males in that time period.
>>160651528
I read that reboot chapter of Kenshin, it was garbage.
This will probably be garbage too. Watsuki don't got it anymore.
>>160658448
>The unsheather
Where's her bulge?
>>160659331
That's Kenshin's title, not Honjou's.
>>160659376
Yeah, I realized that but it's still funny. That said it's awful for Kenshin.
Also why did Kamatari steal Busou Renkin's scythe?
>>160659453
Because the redesigns stole about half of everything from Busou Renkin.
Not that that's a bad thing, it had style.
Sure as hell made Kaoru a bit more interesting.
>>160659297
what didn't you like about it?
I read both volumes and it was fine not the best thing ever written, but a as just a short manga it was good
>>160659858
More style, maybe. Less charm though, imo.
>>160659865
It was a pointless reboot and worse than the original in every way.
>>160659915
>It was a pointless reboot and worse than the original in every way.
that isn't an answer to what I asked you
>>160659915
The only thing I disliked was Hiko Seijuro.
There's got to be some good way to incorporate the Spawn cape and the implication that Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu is the Fountain of Youth.
>>160659949
It's mediocre if you've never read kenshin before. It's shit if you have.
>>160659980
I dunno, he looks stylish as fuck, in an alt. costume kind of way.
>>160659986
I have read Kesnhin before, and it was fine, tell me what it was specifically you didn't like about it anon
>>160659980
desu it's my favorite re-design, even though Seijuro has no reason to be in a suit
>>160659215
Oh God, the Sasuke fangirls of the Kenshin era return.
>>160660066
>tell me what it was specifically you didn't like about it anon
It read like a halfassed summary where most characters were caricatures of their original selves (even villains that were already caricatures), the art is way worse, too.
>>160660071
>Oh God, the Sasuke fangirls
Those are the aoshi fans.
>>160660167
I disagree on everything, while the characters aren't nearly as fleshed out I felt each one got a fair representation for the manga's short duration, except maybe Gein but he wasn't anything big to begin with
I think the art is actually better as well, it's a natural evolution of watsuki's unique style
I don't agree that it's a summary either, it tells it's own short story that made for an enjoyable afternoon read
the humor is also pretty good too
I'm not saying that it's equal to original, but as an alt story it's fine
The only thing I care about is if Saito is in it, because I just don't have the patience for any arc without Saito.
>>160660412
>I think the art is actually better as well, it's a natural evolution of watsuki's unique style
The evolution was already a de-evolution by the end of the original manga, it's only gotten worse since.
It tells the gatling gun battle on the first fucking chapter, and the villain was a flanderized, hammy version of his old self (who was never a subtle villain in the first place).
It's pretty shit, and it was completely pointless, since the original already did it, only much better.
>>160660330
Woops yeah, got those mixed up.
>>160651528
More like "back again".
>one hit wonder manga is being milked by the author
>>160660422
since people keep wondering, here's a preview with confirmed returning characters
>>160660477
we're not going to agree on the art or the story, but especially not the art, I really like it
I like to think of it as kinda like an X-men movie I guess, It tells a story that was in the source material, but it condenses it and changes enough to make the short run work out
I get that people won't like i, but I did have fun reading it
>>160659858
>that Kaoru design
She's gonna fight isn't she, how much of a huge role she's gonna play in the continuation.
>>160660702
Yes and I hope she goes knee deep Kenshin's dick hard
>>160657822
This, when authors try to continue a series years after and beat a dead horse I just consider the author to be two seperate people and i can treat the new content as a soon off or something.
>>160661755
>spin off
I have no words to express the amount of 'FUCK YEAH' this evokes in me.
>>160658538
Don't hurt me but I thought Flowers was shaping up to be pretty interesting.
Like, I assume Yoh's dad is the ghost powering the golem but I won't find out because it's on hiatus.
>>160661848
same here, takei needs to fix his fucking pacing though
also Shueisha lost the rights to SK recently, and next year it'll turn 20 so maybe we'll see something happen there
Reminder that Sojiro was best boy.
>>160662423
I would fuck him. No homo.
>>160651528
They're going to have him fight some more?
For fucks sake, let the man die already!
>>160662423
>>160662608
He gave me strange sexual feelings. I still don't know how it happened.
>>160653848
Obviously they are going to pull a Battleship Yamato and resurrect Kenshin in the near future as a cyborg samurai.
>>160653848
yeah, I love Kenshin but it's over. Let it be over. Id rather not deal with a DB Super
>>160659980
>>160659858
>>160658448
You got one for Misao? She was always my favorite
What? Why?!
As much as I loved the anime and the manga when growing up as a 90's kid I don't see how he can continue to have Kenshin being a shonen protagonist after the conclusive ending and time-skip. If he wants a quick buck why not finally animate the Jinchu Arc? I fear it might go Super (as in DBS)
>>160663524
>If he wants a quick buck why not finally animate the Jinchu Arc?
because this is a new manga and way way cheaper to make than a new anime
>>160663524
If it was a sequel with Yahiko and Kenshin's son I would take it, since that's where the story was naturally going after all.
But making Kenshin the protag again is a big fucking mistake. His story already ended. He can't use Hiten anymore. He passed his sword to Yahiko. I don't see how he can go back to be the MC without ruining the ending of the original.
Kenshin was pretty much the most perfect battle shounen ever. It ended conclusively and exactly where it had to end. I feel like they will ruin the original by making this.
>>160651528
okay, but why? it ended just fine we don't need anymore
>>160663582
>Yahiko and Kenshin's son
Lewd.
But Kenshin was already set too late for a sequel because firearms were making swords obsolete. By the time his son came along it couldn't b about martial arts anymore.
But maybe not being about swordsmen is exactly the kind of fresh twist that's needed?
>>160663422
Now with spats!
>>160664582
And here's Aoshi, who could only be improved in one way.
>>160662423
I'd like to see a match with him against older Yahiko.
>>160664712
Yahiko is going to get demolished in less than five seconds.
>>160664712
I just want to see older Yahiko chasing Yutaro away from Tsubame.
>>160664712
Yahiko wouldn't stand a chance.
>>160658538
Paradise Lost is abusive. It's too much.
>>160664582
>>160664582
Hmmm. Im not sure I ever really considered Misao the tomboy type. Not really sure how to regard this.
>>160660330
It's not their fault Aoshi-sama is the sexiest.
>>160660627
Can't wait to see my OTP again.
>>160658538
>GTO: Paradise Lost
Dont remind me
>>160664621
>>160664582
>ice cold megane danshi x hot-blooded tomboy ninja
I didn't think it was possible to improve on these two, but somehow Watsuki did it.
>>160651528
Kenshin is one of the few series that has more (and much more memorable) EDs than OPs.
>>160666570
I remember when I had a Kenshin theme for Windows 98. Had a screensaver with the Midi for the second OP and everything.
Good times.
Did any of you ever watch the Sony dub for RK?

>>160666570
Fourth Avenue Cafe and Heart of sword are GOAT
>>160652714
Well, well, well, looks like a spic.
just let Kenshin rest, we all moved on already too
But he can't use hiten mitsurugi ryu anymore
>>160662928
Gurren Lagann reference? Watsuki confirmed for bros.
>>160662928
It could be some kind of retcon too
>>160652283
"successful"
>>160658538
ouch
>>160666694
Better than ADVs dub
Reflection isn't canon right?
>>160659162
>not as much pressure?
>better editors?
What? Let me remind you that a couple of years ago they axed ALL long series except Conan because they wanted to keep it fresh and give a chance to new series. That's why Kenichi that was in the middle of the story had to have rushed ending, among others.
>>160652283
MAKKA NA CHIKAIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
I fucking hate this trend of seasoned authors that made one great job working at it again even though it was pretty much closed, or drawing shit to get money because the work is that popular. It just never works.
>>160675251
Also, original Rose of Versailles is unreadable shit compared to Dezaki's anime.
I don't get what's the appeal of these shows like super and now this. For me the appeal of a super manga compared to a normal length manga is that we get to see a character develop over a long period of time from many different events. The individual arcs might be better or worse than each others, but the series is about the whole rather than its sums.
If that's the appeal for everyone, which I would assume, then what the fuck is the point of going to anywhere but the most advanced point in the timeline? The Tokyo arc was about struggling with the fact that he couldn't find the answer wandering, and whether or not wandering is what he is. Kyoto arc was about whether or not Himura Kenshin can exist as who he is with the vow to never kill again and the sword that protects people or will he never win against his past. So once we got the answer, we now know that he can protect everyone without killing anybody. That's done. That period of time is done. There is nothing you can do in that period of time that will be interesting because we already have the resolve.
The Jinchuu arc is about how now that we know that Himura Kenshin can abandon his past ways, he now struggles about how he can atone for his past. There is no story that you can tell in that time period that would be interesting about Kenshin because it will just be a story in a void, which is not what's interesting in this show. The same thing is true about Super, I already know how Goku was before the Buu arc and after the Buu arc so whatever happens in that time skip is just a story that has no bearing on the overall narrative and therefore I don't give a fuck about it.
>>160675251
A lot of creators only have one great work in them. Whether they make a new one or add to the old one, they won't reach the same heights, so they take the safe bet.
>>160653848
If this can pave the way for a reboot of the anime that includes the Jinchu arc, I can get behind it.
>>160664582
the original was better tbqh
>>160675753
But if you like a character, wouldn't you lik more of them?
>>160678139
I would want more of them. I really liked Cherry Blossom in Spring which was an epilogue sort of extra chapter and I really liked Yahiko's Sakabato because it was about Yahiko growing. But the story of Kenshin struggling with his vow is done, I have no interest in that time period of Kenshin's life. I already watched him struggle fight and reach his conclusion. I already watched him redeem himself and I already watched him give up the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu. That is a done story. If they want to make more Kenshin, make it after the story, or before the story.
If I were to not ramble like a moron but concise my point it would be this
A story is about how you get from point a to point b. Once we get to point b that journey is done. If you want to continue the story make a point c.
>>160678139
Because characters don't exist in a vacuum, they do in a story and an enviroment which "suck" the interest to be had in the character, their actions and so on in favour of the themes and images the author is trying to display. Continuing an story that is done and closed because of the appeal of the characters almost always ends up in a shameless cashgrab and artistic blackout. Even fanart is better than that.
>>160652320
It was only a modest success, and it would have helped more if he didn't put it on hiatus to do the Shishio mini-series or Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration which was pointless as shit because it only covered the first handful of chapters
>>160653848
Apparently Watsuki planned a Hokkaido arc back during the earlier parts of Jinchuu, but ultimately scrapped the idea because he thought all the lose threads wrapped up pretty well. I feel like this is either him getting a new idea, or Jump executives demanding he pump out shit
>>160666694
I tried to a few years ago when i forgot that Media Blaster's version was the SECOND english version produced.
I despise the pronunciation and terminology the Sony version used.
>Kenshin is spoken as "Kenshi"
>Sanosuke is spoken as "Zanozooki", and gets his nickname Zamza because that's where is from rather than for the large sword he used
>The main characters live in Kyoto instead of Tokyo, so during the Kyoto arc they go to Tokyo instead
>Oniwabanshu is referred to as the "Oni Syndicate"
>Shinsengumi is referred to as "The Shinen Group"
>Shishio sounds like he's 70 years old and dying of lung cancer
>>160651528
Sojiro is best girl, followed by Megumi, Saito and Tomoe.
>>160664621
These designs are a couple years old right? I remember seeing them around a couple years ago.
If anyone's interested some anon translated the two-shot of the new guy about a couple months ago, it should be somewhere in the archive.
Is Saito the best character in the entire manga history?
It's probably not gonna be as good as the original manga, but it'll be enjoyable nonetheless. Glad that Watsuki is teaming up with his original editor Sasaki for this.
It was sheer fanservice but I really liked the Shishio chapters from few years ago. I wish Watsuki could've found better success with his works after the original Rurouni Kenshin run but I still enjoy his art style and storytelling so I'll keep an eye on this new series.
I never really got into Embalming since it got a bit messy here and there and inconsistent translation releases didn't help. I did finish Busou Renkin a few years ago and I liked it enough but to be honest I barely remember anything from it.
>>160675324
So wrong it's not funny.
>>160658538
>>160664989
>>160666515
I've read the original, Shonan 14 Days, Bad Company and some of SJG but only the first chapter of Paradise Lost, what's so bad about it? I'm a little surprised it's still going on.
>>160651528
Idk how to feel about this. Sequels are usually not a good idea no matter how you look at it, on the other hand, it was probably one of the best things I have ever read.
>>160653714
>implying that emo boy was best at anything
>>160660627
It's gonna be great seeing reformed Enishi.
>>160651528
For what purpose?
Didn't he die from an STD at the end of it?
>>160659162
It has nothing to do with editors since all of those WSJ mangaka have to do their sequels in other magazines or even entirely different publishers, that said, I would imagine it has more to do with having experienced the hellish nightmare of a weekly in Shonen Jump and then after failing a few times, deciding they want to keep working but they shouldn't have to push themselves so hard when they can just have a more calm career continuing their work they know people actually like
>>160689691
To make shonen jump great again
Reminder that Shishio defeated Kenshin,Sanosuke,Aoshi and Saito back to back and only lost because his body combusted.
>>160658538
>Shaman King
I hade almost repressed that shit entirely.
Thanks faggot
>>160692348
Every one of them he deliberately fought while they're injured. Kenshin just went through Soujiro, Sanosuke fought that monk, Aoshi was still recovering from his injuries & recently took a blow from Kenshin & Saito's legs were injured.
>>160692425
At least the girls were superlative cuties.
>>160662423
Superb taste, anon
>>160667349
Yes. Also "It's gonna Rain".
>>160689764
That OVA ending is not canon.
>>160689764
>>160693638
Wait what
>>160693310
Don't forget this one.
https://youtu.be/il__fArr3nA
>>160693795
You heard me. Rurouni Kenshin Seiso-hen, the OVA where Kenshin dies of that non-specific disease at the end, was not written by Watsuki and had ZERO involvement from him, so it's not canon. In fact, Watsuki was very vocal in an interview about how much he hated that OVA.
>>160693969
>Watsuki was very vocal in an interview about how much he hated that OVA
Not really
>>160693969
it's not very good either, it's well made for sure though
>>160692348
Reminder that Saito would have easily defeated Shishio if not for bullshit plot armor.
Is it true that Kenshin fought Marvel's Venom?!
>>160694960
Yes. Gambit too.
>>160695125
Now that's just ridiculous. Why would Gambit fight Venom?
>>160694960
Kenshin's sensei also fought EVA unit 1
wait this shit wasn't even finished? i heard about kenshin dying or some shit i really never did read the manga and don't care.
>>160695125
And Wolverine.
>>160694275
Watsuki criticized it saying "Kenshin deserved a happy ending after all the shit he went through."
>>160695926
He died in some non-canon OVA.
In the manga, he settled down with Kaoru and had a kid and passed down his sword to Yahiko when he grew up.
There's even a story or two of Yahiko afterwards.
>>160696603
Just like a father that always wants his child to have a happy life. But if you go through all the shit Kenshin went, realistically, you can end up just like him in the OVAs.
>>160696887
Well yes, eventually we're all going to end up dead.
>>160651528
>I will exploit the only profitable idea i've ever had
>>160696887
I don't like the idea of Kenshin dying, because then it feels like a "you can only redeem yourself through death" type of bullshit, witch I feel is contrary to Kenshins story
>>160692348
He was quite disappointing compared to a lot of other swordsmen in the series (especially considering the Sojiro fight right before him) but he was still impressive in his own right. The man can tank hits like crazy and I really like the whole "once i see a move it won't work against me" thing.
Still the best villain
>>160685699
For me it's just too much to happen even for Onizuka. The whole plausibility of it is outrageous that Onizuka becomes a fucking teacher to a bunch of famous/rich kids. And the events and solutions start to get bigger and bigger to the point that it's total bullshit he wasn't thrown in prison sooner.
>>160693969
>>160696694
>its another "productors take too much liberties and makes a fanfiction" episode
this is why i hate studios they make this shit and the stupid fullmetal alchemist dark ending.
>>160696926
I was thinking about he fucked up his (physical and, to a point, mental) health, but yes, we all are going to die.
>The good guys have Soujirou, kamatari, and Enishit on their side
Wonder how strong the main bad guy will be, the Enshi arc was a bit over the top for a series with samurais that can move at light speed. I expect cyborg CCO.
>>160696603
Well too bad he's now going to continue the story.
>>160652283
I loved the characters but the fights were so frigging bad, I still can't understand how the author of kenshin could make fights so boring.
Is WSJ gonna carry this?
>>160652283
the only problem was that the mc was so generic it hurts, he was only missing the harem.
>>160702441
jumpSQ I think
>>160693885

At the very least, they changed the names back to their original ones. No "Kori" or "Yoshi" in sight
>>160701835
>Soujiro
Why did he shoehorn him into the new arc what's his role gonna be anyway
>putting Kenshin back in action when it was confirmed by Megumi that the Hiten Mitsurugi took such a toll in his body that he would no longer be able to use it effectively
So much for that

>Expect technique that shorten your lifespan to actually shorten your lifespan / harm your body
>>160695926
>I never read the manga
Kill yourself
>>160707429
It made sense within the story. The Hiten Mitsurugi required someone of Hiko Seijuro's build to be used effectively with less drawbacks. Kenshin was a scrawny bitch, so of course it would be taxing on his body after prolonged use.
>>160707591
It probably won't be dropped as a plot point though, i'm sure it'll cause Kenshin some stress
>>160707360
Didn't he cut his hair?
