Its unfortunate the this show got mixed up with other stuff and people though it was something it was not. Apple and oranges to anything else featuring non-humans in any genre.
The manga was very nice to read and the anime was faithful but a touch more lively.
Personally the anime bringing Succu-san to life made her a more appealing and connectable character.

It looks like a shallower version of A Centaur's Life to me.

Wow a show about cute high school girls being cute is better than a show about a middle aged dyke that drinks too much.

I find it to be the perfect MonsterGirl/Slice of Life Series. Great characters that are all likable and unique, and a Great Male MC. The series as a whole is pretty Education, Emotional, and Fuckin Hilarious.

If Monster Musume(The greatest harem series of all time) got a Monster Daughter SpinOff/Sequel this would be it. It needs a season 2.

I feel like it wanted to be more than a forgettable SoL, like it wanted to make a point against discrimination or something, but every single time the writers/director had an opportunity to actually make it memorable, they dropped the ball. It could've been interesting, explain more of the way demis work, explain how their integration into society is going to go over the next few years. Spend more time figuring out how the dullahan's neck works. Fucking explain if the snow woman can end global warming or some shit. But no, it's just lame jokes and awkward moments that people forgot about literally 10 minutes after the show ended.

It wasn't bad or anything, but it was just frustrating because I was never sure what I was supposed to take from it. They constantly talk about the difficulties of being a demi in normal society, but then immediately follow it up by explaining that the differences between demis and humans are so insignificant and inconsequential that they might as well not exist at all. Which would be fine if the whole thing was a metaphor for social stigmas, but that sort of falls flat when the MC is a biologist who actively wants to study the differences and they continue to keep talking about these supposed "difficulties".

The only ones who had real differences in their biology were Machi and the succ, but even those were entirely one note. All of succ's problems were just pheromones and society's view on a creature literally built for sex was never really expanded on in an interesting way. And all of Machi's problems were essentially the same "Doing ___ is hard because my hands are full with my head".

I dunno, it just felt like the monstergirl attribute was just a gimmick with no real impact, tacked on to an otherwise normal slice of life story.

Yeah, I think this was my issue. They never really explored the world or society in any way despite constantly talking about what a big deal demis were. We don't even see any interesting social interaction with their classmates because the only human classmates shown just genuinely don't seem to give a single shit about them being demis. And I just figured with the main character being a biologist, we'd get more talk of demi biology rather than just discussing the fact that Hikari is just a normal girl with heat sensitivity and a tendency to bite her friend's arms, or attributing Machi's detached head to quantum magic.
