This manga is still going? What exactly is Ippos record as of now? Is he the world champ at this point? How can a manga about boxing have 1188 chapters? The best boxers in the world have like 50-80 victories.
Only seven pages?
>>160627558
each match is about 200 chapters
>>160627558
He's 23-2
I think the manga is actually doing a decent job of showing a full boxing career and all that comes with it.
Or at least what can be expected from a Japanese boxer trying to get international.
>>160627558
I think he has about 20 something matches with one loss.
>>160627605
Yeah the artist is recovering from illness of some shit right now
>>160627558
This manga goes into an absurd amount of depth for every fight and the training in between.
Morikawa is getting more knowledgeable about boxing too, so the manga is generally getting even more accurate.
A recent fight where Volgfought Jr.was absolutely awesome
Lightweight World Champ

Reminder that the world champion is also a spic
>So, why do you think Ippo "can't" hit him?
I told you guys last thread, you ditzes.
It's literally just because Guevara is a southpaw. Guevara is just blocking Ippo's left step-in by having his right foot there. Ippo is mentally fucking retarded, so he keeps sticking his left leg into Guevara's right instead of stepping outside. Itagaki thinks that Ippo has already figured it out, and that he's gonna end the match. Ippo hasn't. Either Sendou or Mashiba says something that I've forgotten about Guevara being stubborn because he's refusing to just give up, because they know that Ippo wins because they read George's scripts ahead of time. Coach thinks to himself that Ippo doesn't need to actually be smart or good at boxing, he just needs to be 'more stubborn' than Guevara by GUTS and PUNCH HARDER. By the end of 1189, Ippo actually gets to Guevara's 'inside' (by taking 1,000 jabs with no ill effect)! Close on him moving to hit Guevara, just like the last x many chapters.

Thing is, it looks like even Guevera is too scared to realise.
If he figures it out before Ippo and counters, this could end up being another twist loss.
>>160630608
More Ippo loss is bullshit.
>>160630718
Feels pretty likely.
Seems like Morikawa is trying to hit all the key beats of a boxer's career.
So consecutive losses and the devastation that brings could be a plot point here.
>>160633367
I dont know, we havent hit the 'Filthy Disgusting Rich' part of a well known worldwide boxer.
Even the small island of Puerto Rico has had a few filthy rich boxers before they got 'retired'.
Why isnt Ippo rich yet?
Are Japan's boxers shit or something?
>>160633524
>Why isn't Ippo rich yet?
It's been explained many times why the Kamogawa fighters don't have or make real money. Number one reason: it's very difficult to convince literally every one of their opponents to fight in Japan.

>>160633524
And there's a running joke where many people have pointed out Ippo should be pretty rich.
But he keeps spending all his earnings on resources to train better.E.g. the dozens of logs he hammered into a hill to prep the new Dempsey Roll
Chapter 4000. The year is 2013 and Ippo is getting ready to hang himself because he now lives in a world where nobody actually gives a fuck about boxing anymore because ufc killed it. He takes one last deep breath to get oxygen in his muscles before kicking the chair away.
>>160635187
I can't wait to see Mayweather dismantle McGregor
>>160635187
When, suddenly, his phone rings. He lets it go to voicemail while still standing in the chair, waiting only to see if it is a call that might change his mind. He doubts that anything could change his mind, though. But, he hears the words spoken by a police official to his voicemail, and everything changes. They have found the body of his daughter, who had disappeared 14 years ago.

The author needs to take in more oxygen.
>>160627009
Because the author wants to make it last longer.
