Yep. On that note I seriously don't understand why people say the tone shift was when the series went downhill, for me that's when it actually became watchable in the first place and started living up to the hype.

Wash is a great quality person, thought stupid shit. The way he behaves, not abandoning the shit he understands it is but still being functional is really REALLY admirable. Why would he choose to maintain this handicap? The series is about that too.
