They mention is briefly in the show (but much more extensively in the LN). The mechs are based on humans. Humans don't have interwoven muscle tissue so such a concept was very new to them, along with the back arms.

This series is basically using Isekai as a shortcut to the backstory. You can even see it in the main character himself. It's never mention again, he looks like a trap, and a mild sociopath. He's clearly not a character you're supposed to self insert to unlike all the Kirito's in anime.

The anime is sorta going super fast. 5 episodes in and we're done with the 2nd LN. They skipped over basically everything related to the fact they are actually supposed to be in a school. The associated backstory related to all characters in the school. Wrote out a bunch of other folks. Took out 3/4 of why what Eru did is impressive and what he had to do to convince others to follow him. Removed 99% of the politics and left in the Mech fighting.

I'm loving it anyway (having read all the translated LN after the first eps). It's basically the mecha fantasy version of Youjo Senki. Following a mildly sociopathic loli/shota destroy everything in their path along with their crew of friends.

Actually the Gears are even cheaper than that since they don't have a reactor which is something like 90% of the cost of a Knight. The real issue is the antagonist country values armor super highly when it comes to their grunt suits so the gears just don't have enough firepower to be effective.

It's a fun, inoffensive show. Eru really carries it by himself most of the time. The rest of the cast don't really feel like they have personalities sometimes. Addy and Kid are Eru's best friends but I struggle to think of how to describe them as characters.

I'm aware a lot was cut out, though. I like the show enough that I plan on reading the novel once it's over.

The pace of them running through all the published light novels is like they knew there would be no 2nd season. So they have to get to the fight scenes between not-girl-Eru and the IP_stealer_Prince on board the Levitate Airship.

That's because the anime studio hugely changed their size after they hit the mecha to make them visible. The show has a lot of artistic license with speed, tactical movement, and time contradictions, But the blazing fast pace of the show forces you to forget or ignore any discrepancies because there's something else happening very soon.

This show is like watching a normal anime series in fast forward. There's also a lot of glue ideas and situations missing, but many people who read the light novels will mentally not notice.

This one is also enjoyable without needing the LN. I read the LN after enjoying the first eps and I'm thoroughly still enjoying the series even if it cuts out 75% of the LN. It's definitely not one of the cases where you say "The Anime is Shit go read the source". It is however quite different, the LN is more Slice of Life. The Anime is more Mecha Action. I understand why they edit it like this since if they do this series as SoL it would be horrendously talky with tons of random engineering stuff that would bore the mainstream audience to tears.

If you go into this series expecting Isekai. You'll be disappointed. If you wanted drama, suspense, romance, ecchi it's not for you. If you like Pacific Rim (and weren't the person who hated it because of some stupid plot point that really doesn't matter in the scheme of things) and you want to see Rofostomp robots quickly escalating from shit to Gundam. I find it to be pretty stupid, and while certainly not terrible, to probably be the worst anime I'm watching this season. Kind of stupid in a good way I guess because I'm certainly not dropping it. Keep in mind that a tank usually required a crew of 4 to fully operate. So won't be able to control everything at the same time.

- You still need a clear runway to takeoff a jet fighter so permission from ATC tower is a must. Even if you somehow still can get it on the air (VTOL?) they'll just shoot you down in a few minutes instead.

Eventually, mass produced silhouette gears will exist and be useful, but they run under a magius engine and not full control like what Eru, Ady, and Kid are doing. They are a bit more limited in what they can do as a result, it's like the difference between Guair when a normal person is riding it and when Eru is controlling it.

Oddly enough, while they are useful in combat, their arguably most important use is in helping to speed up manufacturing of SKs in general.
