Persona 5 doesn't hold a candle to the other games. The villains have no depth,the main cast has no chemistry and they're constant dickriding of the MC has no basis. Not to mention the game's plot doesn't actually begin until about 30 hours in. And the dungeons force you to solve tedious and simple puzzles which are stretched out so that it takes much longer to beat the dungeon than it should. It fails to explore any consistent or major theme throughout the game either and just fluctuates whenever it suits them. I could go on for a long time about everything wrong with the game such as the main cast being unrealistically dumb just for the sake of plot convenience but I'd probably run out of space to type.

The only thing Persona 5 has going for it is style and gameplay. But that's not even that substantial since the game is 8 years more advanced since the last.

When I said "as an intelligent character" I didn't mean how smart their individual plans were or how their IQ compares. I mean how intelligently they were written. They were both injected into the plot in a similar way.

Goro isn't supposed to be smart. He's an emotional child that was given power from God to fuck shit up. The same as Adachi, they had their fatal emotional flaws manipulated by gods to bring the downfall of humanity. Adachi is dumb. Sure, you can say Goro is dumber. Though Goro was found earlier to show off how smart the Thieves were. While Adachi was found at the end because it was a cool investigative moment.

Characters who are emotional with fatal flaws don't necessarily mean the story is dumb. When the story itself also points out how dumb the character's actions were by having him fail and die. Both Goro and Adachi realize they were wrong in the end.
