It was pretty short notice, he had 3 days until the new moon and Pucci was already at Cape Canaveral when he woke up and his daughter was heading there already. He absolutely could not wait and had to leave as soon as he woke up, so even if he called for backup there was only a couple of hours between then and Pucci figuring out how to accelerate the evolution of C-Moon and gaining Made in Heaven anyway, which he couldn't have predicted. He very well could have phoned Josuke and co or literally everyone he knew but there just wasn't time for them to arrive even if they left immediately like Jotaro.

He had some idea but it changed over time. He had a plan for each Part before starting except 4 which was literally made up on the fly, but they're pretty minimal and he constantly changes his mind so there may as well have never been plans in the first place. Stone Ocean is probably the one that came out with the least changes and closest to what he originally planned from the finished Parts, though 8 seems like it's going to take first place on that front when it's finished.

Mostly because it stems off his Part 2 counterpart.
He's still the lovable character you know and love without the constant "le trickery" and he has the 'experience' from the previous part.
He performs better as a side character because he doesn't get all the spotlight, but when he does, it's great.
His old sense of humour rubs off on you like you watching decade old memes, it's shitty but sort of nostalgic.
I guess it's the same reason why I prefer Part 4 or 6 Jotaro over Part 3 Jotaro.

I love oldseph too, and the removal of his "le trickery" I feel is honestly part of his character development in Part 2. I was an anime-only and when I finished the manga I wanted to read through the animated parts, and loved Part 2, finishing it in like a day, and noticed a lot of stuff on Joseph's character that I feel gets overlooked pretty easily because of how gimmicky he feels.

It was OK, imo. I really like Avdol's voice, he was my favorite, can't wait to listen to his beautiful voice again. Joseph wasn't as good as in the Japanese version, which is a shame because he's my favorite. Jotaro's voice seems fitting (for now). Holly sounds just like in the original. I just want to hear more characters that we haven't seen already in the dub.

I completely agree. Cheating is his thing and he's supposed to have a lot more experience in part 3, but he didn't show it in moments where it actually mattered. Still, the way Jotaro won that one was awesome.

Star Platinum is just a hot guy with different colours and Crazy Diamond is a recoloured The World. Me too, I liked seeing Anasui and Jolyne together.
And there's is this light parallel with Dragon's Dream I really like, F.F. couldn't finish Kenzo even after heavily hurting him, so Anasui did it for her, Anasui couldn't destroy Yo-Yo Ma even after frogging it, but F.F. finished D&G for him, in both cases saving an incapacitated Jolyne.
I wish we had gotten more F.F./Anasui interactions.

The arc was good and needed to be there for closure but it really didn't HAVE to be fucking Dio again. I feel like Araki probably killed off Diego too quickly because he wanted to wrap up 7 as quick as possible after realising he'd be writing it for 10 years if he kept going at the pace he was going but then realised he could still fit him in to the last couple of chapters and found himself in a conundrum. The only thing I dislike about High Voltage is that it was DIO in a Diego skin since it being the finale really compounds my main gripe with SBR being that it doesn't really have it's own distinct identity for most of it's run and then once it does come into it's own and is amazing it falls back on Dio again.

I was fine with Yo-yo Ma, it wasn't anything special, but far from being bad. Anasui and Jolyne's interactions are pretty entertaining, I just wish it had a more climactic ending than just lelfrog.
Some more FF/Anasui interaction would have been cool too, but there isn't much room for those, since the action's quite tightly packed in the instances they're together in.
What i'd really like to see is Anasui contemplatingFF's sacrifice, since that made a big impression on him and influenced his later actions.

He never even has any actual conversations with his teammates - he shows 0 interest in getting to know them, and it makes him being apparently really cut up by their deaths seem really forced and weak.
All of Jolyne's team (aside from Anasui, who's just infatuated) have individual and reasonable reasons for respecting and/or idolizing her.
Hermes is proud to be her comrade and is impressed by her growth, but never looks up to her as much as the others do. She and Jolyne are friends who like to chat and hang out, and Jolyne personally was of great help to her during the Sports Max arc as well as busting her out of jail.
Foo Fighters owes Jolyne the most, as it was Jolyne who spared her life and showed her she could find a purpose beyond just obeying Pucci's orders and killing everyone who went near the warehouse.
Weather Report had no real purpose in the jail and no real hope before Jolyne showed up. While he likes her, he's not in love with her by any means, and is interested in following her because he (correctly) hopes that her deal with Pucci might provide some answers about who he is.
Jolyne is the first person to really give Emporio much of a mother figure and to care and protect him the way she does. She's very gentle and nurturing with him, and breaks him out of prison along with Hermes.
Jolyne actually makes friends and bonds. Other people just fall in love with Giorno.

Narancia said he felt like Giorno was the commander, not Buccellati. And Buccellati is the one that got Mista out of jail and helped him presumably many more times before the start of the story, as well as in The Grateful Dead and Rolling Stone. Although Buccellati's actions specifically are what saved Mista's life in TGD and although Buccellati personally is to thank for him not being assraped in prison, he never fellates him in text. While Giorno is a helpful ally to Mista in White Album, he's no more useful to Mista than any of his other companions are. Giorno fights his enemies and heals his allies, like all the characters in the part would (but without getting to bond with them as friends) but gets grand speeches about how fantastic he is the way that they (and characters from other parts, like Josuke and Jotaro) don't.
Giorno is obviously intended as being a serene, mindblowing, awe-inspiring character, but since he fails to actually stand out the other characters talking about him as though he is every couple of fights is very sloppy and weak.

And, well, is Giorno not amazing? I mean, he's a extremely capable and efficient individual and who is great at coming up very good solutions that are very out of the box, a lot of times putting his own life on the line.
In your pic, Fugo just saw the guy get infected with his virus, basically committing suicide, and then managed to find a way to survive, while also preserving Fugo himself and the mission. It's not like Fugo was supposed sit back and complain the snake was an asspull like you would, what he witnessed was actually very inspiring.
Same goes to Trish, since she just saw he cutting his arm off in sake of the team who had just been badly hurt, while also finding a way of bringing his hand back, so that he could heal Mista and Narancia and now this chance is in her hands. While she does know that Bruno did a lot for her, he never gave her a chance to act on her, always shielding her from everything.

I'm going todo a meh job toexplain why he's the most likely candidate to be the main antagonist so far. An antagonist by definition is meant to stop or even destroy the protagonist by any means necessary, whether its doing it himself or getting someone else like Dolomiti to do it for him. He doesn't have to necessarily be a villain or evil, but he needs to be the main driving force against him. His ideals and coincidental parallels give him the upper edge.
Some points leading towards a main antagonist, plus some parallels between him and Josuke:

>has a family member who is confronting illness, and the Rokakaka can save them from that illness
>sees Gappy as an obstacle in his path to climb higher

Besides, the more Gappy kills the rock niggers, the more Jobin climbs up by default. Even if there are other stronger organizations/people, Jobin will be the only one in the end still actively seeking the Rokakaka undisturbed. I believe it'll pay off for him in the end. Even if Part 8 is still going, I don't recall a main villain being known of this late if they were to still be seen. And sure, the frog stunt was clever. There were plenty of clever things in VA, done by plenty of people. It was clever of Buccellati to unzip his body to stop Pesci from fighting him. It was clever of Abbacchio to cut off his hand to bring the key to Giorno. It was clever of Mista to save Buccellati from Rolling Stone. All of these characters actions not only saved their owners, but their allies too, at great cost to the character themself. But none of the other characters got speeches about how great they were for doing them.
Giorno getting mandatory speeches about how great he is only serves to highlight just how little he actually stands out on his own - Araki didn't feel confident that he'd made him special enough, so he made other characters talk him up to make him seem like the exceptional character that he isn't.

Joubin said he was going to investigate him after Chapter 38 (Beetlemania).
Maybe he met up with Karera after she left him and questioned her because the Rock Humans already knew about her.
Maybe he looked at the Higashikata recording equipment, but Damo busted those according to Joushuu (They were affected by Vitamin C because Gappy takes a look at them after and it appears to be working again).
If he someone got all that info from his own investigation, I fear for what he learned about the Rokakaka.

He probably put two and two together after Damo's incident when he was the only one left. Damo had tons of info on Kira and Josefumi but didn't know about Josuke until he got there, and Jobin began to suspect Josuke after the beetle battle. Yotsuyu was the only one who recognised Josuke as Josefumi but he died before he could alert Damo that it was true so Jobin could probably figure it out too. He didn't tell Damo about that specifically though and Damo went in having no idea who Josuke was which might hint at Jobin's greater ambitions since he wasn't fully truthful with his comrades in the past. As for how he got the picture of Kira and Josefumi I don't know, Damo probably sent it too him or something.

It's pretty unjustified if Giorno is the only one to get them where the other characters never get anything of the sort. Especially given the absolute lack of Giorno interacting with his companions otherwise - the only time they get anything with each other is when he's fighting alongside them or when they're having silent monologues about what they think of him.
Compare to Jotaro, Josuke, Jolyne and Johnny, all of whom get a far greater variety (not to mention better quality and more believable) with their allies beyond getting their asses kissed.

While he doesn't involve in the bants, he fights by the side of everyone, except for Trish, but I already talked about her, and fights are what VA is mostly made of.
And the fact that he doesn't involve in other activities is part of what makes them so impressed by him, as seen in >>160492957.
I do think the other protagonist were better, or at least more subtly, handled in this aspect, none of them are what Giorno is to his companions. Giorno is what saved Bruno from being a cog on Diavolo's syndicate from the rest of his life, he is what reminded Bruno what he thought Passione stood for on the first place.
Like I said, the speeches could be a bit toned down, but Giorno was a huge source of inspiration, specially for Bruno, and it's great that we get to know this through a conversation between the two of them, even more since both are usually very distant from other people in general, seeing they opened up to each other was very heartwarming, and also very sad since Bruno was fucking dead.

Being an inspiration is something that's earned. Jolyne gets a couple of speeches where other characters admit that they're impressed by her, but given that she has actual relationships and dynamics with them that go beyond helping them out in fights it's justified. Even then, the characters in part 5 other than Giorno already know each other and already help each other out - even if Jolyne DIDN'T have the same emotional bond she does with her friends, she'd still be the only person they'd have to be grateful for, since she's the one helping them rather than them helping each other.
Giorno does not earn anything. His actions are pretty much identical to any of theirs - he fights hard, he puts his life on the line, and he helps his allies where he can. The only one who he made sense to be an inspiration to was Buccellati for the reasons you mentioned. The other characters witness him doing the same sorts of things as their friends, yet Giorno is the only character they promo so often and so loudly, without having anything much to do with him other than that. It is extremely poor and I'm sincerely glad Araki has never done anything like it since.

Jotaro, to Kakyoin, is a genuinely kind person who legitimately cares about him, sees him as an equal and trusts him with all of his heart. This is a great relationship between ally and protag who is also greatly handled, but it's fundamentally different from Giorno's relationship with his friends.
Kakyoin never rants about Jotaro in his head, but there is that one scene where he is talking about Holly being the sort of person that he'd fall in love with, in which it seems to me he's talking about Jotaro, not that I think he's actually in love with him, but rather captivated by gratuitous kindness towards a total stranger. This is the sort of thing I'd rather see the Passione boys do for Gio, be a bit more subtle and vocal too. Abbacchio saying that Giorno's ass kicking would have to be postponed at the end of MitM is a great example of this in Part 5 itself.

I agree that Araki definitely could have dialed back on the Giorno hype, but I feel like his quietness actually adds to what makes him so impressive to the rest of the team. He's just the quiet new kid who stays in line and keeps his mouth shut, but he's still got the guts to pull off the same shit as everyone else. For most of them really. Coloured scans help clear up some really confusing scenes and are designed for screen reading, but BW is how Araki drew it and intended it to be read. That said, while printed BW manga is fucking excellent and better than printed colour by leaps and bounds screen BW can be kind of tough to make out certain details which coloured can help with, but the way Shueisha colours the manga covers up just as much detail as it helps bring out. BW is still the best way to experience the manga but it's fine to read coloured on parts that you just can't fucking decipher on BW scans.
