Because both nations/people share a long friendship that goes way beyond WW2 and was established prior to it. We are also fairly similar in our antics and the fields we are good at. Tech driven, car makers, punctual, "hard working" (thats what people believe at least) mass-murderers. I dont know if theres some specific reason, but considering the fact that the Japanese hate literally al other Asians it seems somewhat logical that they like the white people who are closest to them. LotGH is basically one gigantic glorification of Prussia/the German Empire.

As a Mexican, i also think that Japanese actually likes us a lot.
