Honestly, I don't find TTGL's design that appealing either.
SGGL had those huge fucking drill shoulders and glasses and was also still "tangible" in a sense, as it was still a metal mecha.
TTGL's design is mostly just a pile of spiral energy with faces, sharp edges (literally, not edgy in the nu-internet sense), skulls and fire all over, not really that cool.
STTGL shits all over both though since it's both simple and fucking badass at the same time, just a fuckhuge energy kamina with glasses.
