Are there any well-known mangaka or Japanese illustrators that have their work exhibited in galleries?
all of them if you define gallery right
>>160379902
God bless that guy who I met in a buyfag threads like a year ago. He wanted to buy the actual thing in OP's pic. It'd be amazing if he did.
>>160379977
What might this masterpiece be valued at anyway?
>>160379902
Araki got exhibited in the Louvre
>>160380063
For some reason I think I remember there was an actual price tag on it. I could be completely wrong, but I think it was it was around $2k?
>>160380070
Wot?
>>160379902
Yoshitaka Amano had multiple exhibits.
>>160379902
There's this super degenerate sculptor who makes like retarded figures with cum shooting around itself like a rope and they go for millions USD. I'm pretty sure its yakuza laundering tho or some rich autistic neet saudi prince weeaboo buying them
>>160380063
>>160380099
Oh fuck, I was wrong, more like $5,500.
>>160380138
You mean these ones?
I hear to store their manga in here, and anyone can read them.

>>160380210

>>160379902
Random illustrators I follow on twitter participate in exhibitions all the time. Some small, some big. Happens a lot for mangaka too.
>>160380152
Scans when?
>>160380201
yea
>>160379902
You just need to look at the right gallery to find them.

I kind of like MR's work.
>>160396368
>>160396487
And here's the artist, MR (Masakatsu Iwamoto):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._(artist)
Reminds me of how I was such a "cultured" weeb in the past I decided to visit a print shop to print a huge poster of Horo to hang next to my bedside wall. Went to Ikea for the wooden frame too.
Was finally scolded by my dad and told to take it down.
>>160398139
I had to cringe because there is a probability something like this really happened.
>>160398139
It could have been worse.
>>160398394
wow
>>160398394
I'm 101% certain the dude jerked off furiously to the poster.
>>160384737
Saw this in person its sick its in NYC
>>160398139
>>160398394
I've been thinking about doing that with this picture of Luna Child. She's my favorite of the three fairies and this picture is a masterpiece made by a genius.
>>160398289
So I decided to hunt for my poster. The edges are aged brown, the sides are coated with dust.
But it remains,like us
>>160398819
Be really careful anon.
>>160398835
I have that painting hanging over my fireplace!

>>160398819
Do it anon. Go to your local printshop and get them to make as many copies as you can like >>160398394 did.
>>160398819
I remember seeing a story on here (forget which board) about a guy who tried to get that made into a poster in New Zealand or whatever but the shop owner denied him service and threatened to call the cops.
>>160399076
Nah, he just need to appear confident or respectable enough to look like a high-class pedo that no police ever dare to touch.

>Are there any well-known mangaka or Japanese illustrators that have their work exhibited in galleries?
Pretty much all of them. This isn't a rare scenario, many mangaka and illustrators will get gallery space for an exhibit at one point or another. It's used for promotion and for celebrating older mangaka. Here's Izumi Yukio, a relatively obscure mangaka from the 50s, at one in 2012.

>>160410402
It's Oyari Ashito. You should really check some of his old art and VNs, but sadly his newer artwork - most of it im@s - has lost its soul. His old stuff might not be technically masterful and does have quite a lot of hungry skeleton lolis which might be distasteful to some, but at least it had character.
Murata's had plenty of exhibitions, I went to the one in the aforementioned GoFA in '09 I believe. (I don't have any photos though).
>>160379902
His faces look like shit. I can't stand any of his art.

>>160411836
Oh, I found a good chart to illustrate his art's progression. Look at how wonderful his nougties were despite the flaws (inb4 whining about the faces). Then bam, he draws Iori in 2010, and the last three pics looks like plastic mass produced crap.

>exhibited in galleries?
You should define "gallery" and "art gallery" and be careful how you use words. I know that many artists have had their works in galleries (generic sense) for public display. But to me, the way YOU used gallery implied to me it was a formal museum art gallery which is where Picasso, Rembrandt, and DaVinci are shown. I differentiate commercial art galleries from museum art galleries. So offhand I would say "NO" to your question if you didn't qualify it.
>>160398394
I used to work at Office Depot and we were told to cancel any orders involving "obscene" material.
