I was almost certain he would have lost and died against Garm, who is faster than Thorfinn. Although it could be that Thorfinn is out of shape after all the years out of combat.

Honestly though this was the best outcome. I hope Thorkell stays in the series even after the group returns from Greece.

Garm got heavy suprise gong to head just before fight and he was not fighting with his special spear.

I imagine that he could have won with Thorkell if not for that.

As for Thorfinn I guess he is not motivated to fight to death and that why he was bit lacking but he has incredible talent.

Also I was thinking about "Scenario nr 3" for his conflict with Garm if we even can call it conflict - he can break Garm arms, legs, he can stab Garm knee etc. He can make him unable to fight in other ways than just by killing him.
