RIP Idol Jihen

They're at least 5 years too late to the idol thing.

Given that Japan seems to like idols and the like no matter what, I'm kind of surprised this ended so quickly. Even the original Kemono Friends at least lasted over a year.

At a guess? The idol and politics themes were more conflicting than complementary. Politics doesn't appeal to idolfags that want escapisim, and politics wonks likely don' care for idolification. Plus Japan just isn't very politically engaged.

That or it just wasn't very good.

I tried the game when the show was airing. It was shit.

How did the game play like? I can't seem to find any gameplay footage at the moment. The only mobage I've ever played for real was SIF.

Seriously though, for the game to close this soon is kind of pathetic. I know the game has been in development as early as 2014, but when you have a mobage that lasted less than a year, and not even an anime could save it, then something must have gone very wrong.

It was horrible, the rhythm game sections were unresponsive as fuck.
The idea that you get all the girls and just gacha the costumes was 'innovative', but it ended up forcing the players to dress the idols up horribly in order to maximize the stats.

How were the threads while this was airing? I didn't pay attention to the show at the time.

I actually thought it worked pretty good (at times) in combining Idols and Politics. There's the fake news, the corrupt, senile old guard being replaced by idealistic youth and there's a tad of environmentalism and economic as well.

It didn't always work unless you think swimsuit contests have something important to contribute to the Article 9 debate.

If nothing else, I agree with it's sentiment that the old elite politicians should not mock and jeer but listen to the voices of the young.

It's a funny thing, OP, upon reflection that there were two music shows airing in the same season, both broadcasted on weekends- Idol Jihen and Bang Dream but with different themes- Idols and Bands.

Idol Jihen had the better anime but it's game has now shut down.
Bang Dream had the inferior anime but it's mobage is booming. Originally scheduled for an April release, it was pushed to March possibly because they had given up on the anime at that point. If my theory is correct, they probably made the right call.

Idol Connect died in half a year.

The franchise was suppose to start in 2014 but got delayed until 2015 and was rebooted with changes to the art and story.
