Anime is going to be much different when the Old Fags are gone and no longer relevant. I can see where things are going, and it is a boring and uneventful place.
>>
>>160207727
>"over the past years, there has been no anime 'newer' than Eva."
>Hideaki Anno, director of Evangelion
Hack.
>>
>>160207727
Not terribly surprised. It is rare for me to see an anime I actually want to watch these days. I usually just read manga.
>>
This would hold more weight if people like anno and tomino werent massive fucking hacks who cant do fucking anything right since the 90's.
>>
>>160207727
>Hideaki Anno, director of Evangelion
>>He feels anime industry is exhausted : A continuing trend of stagnation.
>>And said "over the past years, there has been no anime "newer" than Eva."

litteraly "there is nothing "newer" than the work I have done"

Holy hell, what an egotistical hack.
>>
>>160207727
This pasta is so old that using it to complain about modern anime is becoming ironic.
>>
>>160209120
Well Anno hates Otaku except for their wallets.

>Katsuhiro Otomo, director of Steamboy and Akira
>'The skills of traditional animators have become worse, and notable young animators have not come out to the scene. This is a big issue for the industry. '

Point on the first one, but I'd imagine that's because digital animation has become the norm. And aren't there schools and shows that showcase the work of young animators?

>Yoshiyuki Tomino, creator of the Gundam franchise
>"All I can say is that the creative process in Japan is obviously showing a decline."

That's rich coming from a guy whose latest Gundam show he worked on personally was absolute trash.

>Hayao Miyazaki, director of NausicaƤ, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away
>"I think Japanese animation is facing a dead end," he said.
>"I think there is a chance that the spread of Japanese animation overseas might only lead to embarrassment."

Anime has gotten even a better reception and has faced a new boom in popularity now that more are coming overseas. Fuck, Hot Topic went from "that goth store" to "that weeb store with some goth stuff".

I agree that there are too many copycats nowadays, but that's more due to the Light Novel industry that just happen to be a popular target for adaptations at the moment.

>Hideaki Anno, director of Evangelion
>He feels anime industry is exhausted : A continuing trend of stagnation.
>And said "over the past years, there has been no anime "newer" than Eva."

Ignoring the sheer egotistical nature of this comment, I guess he has a point here, if it weren't for the fact that EVA itself was just a mish mash of mecha tropes thrown in a cynical blender.

But G-Reco was great. Don't bully Tomino. He just has old man syndrome sometimes.

How does this degrade the skills of animators? Frames are still initially hand drawn.

That's not a good thing, newfaggot. Go back to wherever you came from.

G-Reco is the best Gundam show since Turn A.

Hand drawn animation will be dead in a couple of decades. CG is way more convenient, and allows for a separation of skillsets (modelers who make shit, and animators who make shit move). They're not quite there yet, but shader tech is getting better and better (like pic related). Soon there will be a CG anime that will be close enough in aesthetics that the Japanese populace will like just as much as hand drawn. At that point, traditional will be over.

Sickening.

My heart is breaking. The end of the world can't come soon enough.
>>
>>160212435
>>160212607
My point was that anime's new boost in popularity blatantly contradicts Miyazaki's prediction. How you feel about anime being popular again doesn't change that.

>>160213822
>Anime with Xrd level CGI with actual framerate

I'd be hype, the real problem would be that we'd inevitably get dozens of anime with Berserk-level quality.

not really. you called him egotistical. he has a valid reason to be egotistical more than almost any other anime creator.

also arguing the validity of an objective statement in response to your opinion makes you look like a butthurt twelve year old.

neither of them have produced a single series that sold as many copies as evangelion. that means you're wrong.

take a look at all anime productions from 1960-2017, do some research. you will notice a significant shift from OVA to television and from child-oriented to adult-oriented in television with evangelion at the center. anno did something right, arguing against that just makes you look childish and uneducated. you are denying blatantly observable facts.

Not only were OVAs a result of Japan's economic boom in the '80s, but the idea that Evangelion caused the shift to "adult-oriented" in television is literally the 'anime now' argument.

And that still has literally nothing to do with the originality of Evangelion.
