Even better if the MC is barely hanging on...
It's already been done. A lot as a matter of fact.
Isekai isn't just some new thing that started recently. It's old as fuck. And MCs who were completely out of their depth and barely surviving was fairly fucking common if not the majority.
Full on transported to a new world where the MC is OP as fuck was sort of a bad thing in media for a long ass time.
This new thing is actually quite fun if you find some bit of guilty pleasure that you yourself will enjoy.
Yes. No manga or anime adaption in sight though...or translation for that matter.
You mean infinite getting fucked in the ass? Yeah, sure.
Where have I seen the maid before?
If Medaka box was still running, would they have an Isekai arc with Kumagawa dismissing it all as stupid?
More importantly why hasn't anyone made an isekai with a main character like Kumagawa, who never wins even when his enemies lose?
>only activates on death
>Subaru ends up dying in the most horrible ways possible, somehow managing to top his last score with how brutal they are
>Fucks him over with Potato Rem
>heavily implied to be a commandment, which damage sanity every time they are used.
Infinite retries not so much. In the what if where he abuses it he is basically an emotionless machine. In the what if where he just can't get past arc 1 (keeps dying) he ends up going insane and decides (and succeeds at) to burn down the country.
Basically abusing his resets is a terrible idea.
That's only if you match him up against that world's top rankers, his OPness lies in the story's overall as is his plot armor that brushed-off a god trying to kill him and his family.
>It's romcom but with isekai setting. Plus it's not harem.
I was going to ask you to name just one example, but then remembered that Atelier Tanaka exists.
So can you name just one example, that does not suck? Because Atelier Tanaka is fucking awful so surely you're not suggesting anyone should read that garbage.
>Escapist fantasy without the escapism
>no video game mechanics
>no sudden/unexplained talents (I'm so good at magic for no reason)
>not reincarnated into a monster or any kind of leader('s child)
>coming from a comfy first world country actually has some drawbacks, not just benefits
>people in the other world aren't complete retards
There you go.
Because he's one of a kind.
The only chapter where you can actually hear what he's thinking is in his last chapter, but from start to the end we never know what he's thinking.
And not knowing what MC's thinking has never been done in any isekai whatsoever.
Fuck MC, bring a character like Kumagawa even as a villain or side character would make it better.
Here you go, anon.
And my favorites are
Also I thought Atelier Tanaka is haremshit.
>And not knowing what MC's thinking has never been done in any isekai whatsoever
There's a Korean isekai where the MC is a murderous psychopath and you don't know what he's thinking
but you can infer he's constantly thinking of how to kill everyone around him.
Too bad the writing quality is low and there's an annoying sperg japanese schoolgirl because otherwise it would be a great series.
