What drew a lot of people to the series was the premise of a band of heavily flawed outcasts barely scraping by in a JRPG/TRPG setting
Volume 5 all but outright says "Megumin's flaws don't really matter" in contrast to the other characters which get shit on whenever possible, her bad-points are painted as minor or inconsequential while her good-points are magnified.

I wouldn't call volume 5 or Megumin shit, but I feel that she's not as humanly flawed as the rest of the cast.

Kazuma decided that managing her flawed self while keeping her happy was more important for him, which is kind of the point. She wasn't cured of her explosion fetish or chuunism either, and gets on trouble because of it as often as the other characters (vol 8 fireworks for example)
