We already learnt (for example in Suneater's inner monolog while fighting) that it is possible to "upgrade" your quirk. How should/could some of the quirks of the kids in UA evolve, so that they aren't totally outclassed in comparison to the heavy hitters (todoroki for example)? We already saw frog getting a camouflage technique. With that in mind, fire away.

I have said this before but this arc just don't do anything for me.
I feel like Hori wanted this to be like the Zabuza arc in Naruto, but Stain don't really feel that intimidating and he goes down kinda easy to two kids who aren't even pros yet.

I thought the anime would make me like it a little more but it's not helping, I think it's the lack of builtup to him.

Well, it was Stain's action (or rather, media coverage of Stain's creed behind his hero-hunting spree) that really started to seriously chip off society's trust in heroes and made repressed vilaiins came out of the woodwork. We saw the police acknowledged this right after AM vs AFO fight.

Maybe you don't like the arc because Stain, plotwise, as a character, was only a vehicle to push the development towards making more villains appear and erodes society's trust in heroes.
And as a character, Stain is, not important. By this I mean his background and what made him go hero-hunting. What's important was his creed and his idealistic views and the way that he chose to fulfill it that made that idealism known to the society. And that's why we see his backstory on Vigilantes as opposed to seeing it in the main series

Does anyone else find it obnoxious how Hori portrays Deku's strengths? Like he's only made to look exceptional by making the other characters look not very, like they just kind of float in the background while Deku does things to advance the plot.

For being THE TOP STUDENTS at THE TOP ACADEMY, you get no sense of intimidation from them as they are very simplistic and surfacy characters.

Their strength is pretty much determined by what quirk they have. It makes it feel like if you had a decent quirk, you could join them and not feel out of place because they don't seem that outstanding and even kind of dumb. Even someone like Todoroki only uses his powers in very bland ways.

Where as if you look at Shokugeki no Souma which has a similar setting, the mangaka makes you appreciate why those characters are there and why they're looked up to.

It is obvious that Shiggy is going to be Deku's arch nemesis and that Toga will probably be Ochako's arch nemesis, but it also seems like that Dabi and Rappa may become Todo and Kiri's nemesis resoectively.

Same yellow gloves, and cape, and shoes. only the palms of his gloves are made to work with his quirk, as well as the circle pants thing. His shoes, his capes, his chunky gloves, all get in the way of his quirk's effectiveness, where only Deku's initial costume has that much sentimental compoment to it (Ochako's was skin-tight but that wasn't her design, just not saying no to it).

So the way I see it, since they haven't addressed in ineffectuality as a part of his nature, it's not going to be just a coincidence.

i think it's still too early for any of the students to die, if ever, or getting seriously maimed. Considering how Hori writes the masses/society in this universe in which they react and actively shape the story.

If we take Eraser's line about how "they let UA off the hooks for now" just before the students get into dorms as foreshadowing the downfall of UA and society's trust in heroes, the trigger could be another student abduction or serious injury.

As for other characters, AM's will most certainly die. Considering his lines about "I'm being protected by my peers now", "I was ready to die, but I pushed along because of you, my pupil", "Shigaraki is my master's grandson" are huge deathflags, not to mention he started training again. I think it will be Izuku who'll get abducted by Shiggs and he will jump in to try to save him and talk to Shiggs, only to be killed

I think it's part of it. Mineta's short, his quirk's seemingly dumb and he's insecure about it, he can't control himself over women, he's all around a sort of guy who's terribly uncomfortable with his lot in life, and probably wants to be cool as an escapism. He wants the life of the local heroes, pictures, glitz, advertising, success and fame, adoration, and GIRLS. And given his studies, his track to being part of an agency is on a reasonable trajectory. But he's probably hitting a brick wall. All the flaws of his looks and personality are hitting him at once, and he's running into the reality of what popular heroes are like; Mt. Lady for instance.

Meanwhile, the steps to getting the easy way to things he wants tempt him and he rejects them. Midnight was clearly tricking him, but he didn't let his lust get the better of him, and instead used the assumptions other have of him to his tactical advantage.

Likely more of these easy ways out are going to come up, especially if Mineta's track is derailed, and he's going to come to the epiphany about who he needs to be, what he needs to be, and how he's going to work to get it the regular way. As 90s PSA as it sounds, Mineta's gonna learn his own style of cool.

I really like stories where the comic relief gets to be as deep as the rest of the team, so maybe I'm reading too much into this but I don't care. Mineta is best boy.
