This episode was surprisingly high budget compared to the last two. Definitely not what I expected after the edgy episode we got last week, but it seems like GONZO gives much more of a shit about this show than I initially thought. Hopefully it stays at this level of quality for the next couple of eps.

Art style changes I'd be more than happy to see, it's more the execution I'm worried about. I liked what I see in episode 1 and 2 stylistically, but let's face it, it had the same level of fluidity from what you'd expect to see on Newgrounds. Fingers crossed they get their shit together, this could shape up to be the sleeper hit of the season.

I have the theory that MC might not even exist in RL and is just some crazy split personality of Catguy, whose sister actually has the sleeping beauty sickness and is most likely Lily who just happens to call MC "brother". I mean the weird thing is that so far only witches seemed to be capable of walking around in the dream world and communicate with people there. The only exception would be Catguy, but it would make sense if some part of him (MC) was actually trapped in the dream world, just like the witches. That would also explain why he was able to talk with MC while he was awake in episode 2. Shit would make no fucking sense otherwise and it doesn't seem like he can do the same thing with the witches. MC is the only one.

I really love exploration anime. Be it 18if with the different dream worlds, Space Dandy with planets or Made in Abyss with that fantastical eldritch hell, it's so much more interesting than series that just copy and paste their school setting or premade fantasy RPG instead of creating something new and let the protags travel to different lands or worlds.

I agree, it was a good and refreshingly original thing to happen. And it wasn't out of nowhere either, earlier in the episode MC was showing signs that he didn't completely agree with what he was getting caught up in. But I at least expected it to be the whole "reluctant hero" thing instead of his reluctance presaging his refusal to participate.

In the end though it will probably come around to him helping anyways. I hope that the MC shows that he is only willing to be a do-gooder on his own terms rather.

Nice one anon. This show has really surprised me these past two weeks now. With this episode I feel like I could actually recommend this in good conscience.
With a new director every episode it's pretty unpredictable at this point. It does well for the 'witch of the week' format, I guess we can only hope they don't pull a Flip Flappers with what seems will be the overarching plot with Haruto and Lily.

How was this episode so good? How was the animation so beautiful? How was the story so simply nice, to the point, non-pretentious? The previous two episodes were lackluster at best, or more like annoying as fuck due to all the lecturing, but this one was, just, maybe the best episode of the season.

Great and a totally unexpected episode. I thought this was going to be a cliche "she got hit by a car trying to save a cat is in a coma" type of thing.
