Try creating anything bitch boy,a reader has a luxury of focusing on a minuscule detail and keep obsessing over it, authors have to make hundreds of decisions each time that will influence past, present and future of their work. You fuck up one expression or one line and suddenly character becomes inconsistent or is ruined completely. You have to keep each chapter at least somewhat entertaining while having a bigger picture in mind. And of course stuff like anatomy and keeping action dynamic and myriads of other factors. He gets captured and freed, runs around like a lost child incredibly weakened without encountering anyone strong, gets carried by Sanji at the wedding, has a random explosion save him and now he has a delusional Big Mom right behind him.

Luffy has plenty of plot convenience help throughout the series but this arc is easily one of the most egregious examples with how relentless and large scale it is. It's not done in a fun way, he is just continually getting let off even while he talks smack and acts tough.

How they're both wanted dead specifically for knowledges that they hold and refuse to betray.

Why is it more favourable now?

The SH have lost Bege + the element of surprise + Mam's guard being down...+ the vinsmokes.
Sounds like they're a lot worse off now.

Now it's Big Mom vs Luffy, Jinbe, Sanji, Pedro, Carrot, Nami. It's a much better matchup now. I think Oda's done a good job of presenting two paths for the readers to think the SH will do. The obvious being Sanji baking a cake. And the other being the SH engage Mom to either escape or to take her down. The latter being a little more subtle.

It's more favorable now because Katakuri is out of the picture for the time being. He was able to hold down Luffy and occupy Jinbe and Pedro's attention. This prevented the allies from teaming up against Big Mom apart from the rocket launcher attack. Now it's 6 vs 1 and they're able to counter Zeus.

The loss of the other BM pirates is a good point.

The countering Zeus I'm skeptical of and I'm really not sure a pissed off BM is going to be presented with much of a challenge by the SH crew.

I have no idea how they'll get out of this one though.
Even Sanji speedbaking a cake seems a little much.

Well, Sanji can't fight a woman, so he's left with guarding his allies or attacking homies. Luffy is out of power. Jinbe and maybe Pedro are the only ones actually capable of engaing BM herself in combat.

Zeus is countered by Luffy, Nami, and Jinbe. Luffy is not affected by lightning. Zeus is able to use rain and lightning. Jinbe can use the rain to his advantage by creating attacks. No water and Jinbe loses some of his special attacks. Nami can use other thunder clouds to her advantage.

That leaves Big Mom with Napoleon and Prometheus to which there is no counter for. I don't know how they'll get out either. Big Mom doesn't seem like she's patient enough to wait for a cake and the SH aren't at the thousand sunny yet. Pudding is already on her way to cocoa island.
