There is a specific word in Japanese for "hand-to-hand". It literally translates as "hands four". It's commonly used in wrestling and sumo. To the extent of my knowledge, there is not a simple English equivalent.

This is where the troubles with the translation start. The term used for "palm of my hand" also refers to like six other things - among which are: "my real intent", "my real power", "my hand (in cards)", and "my abilities".

Not "pure" as in "sheer". "Pure" as in "pure hearts". I honestly cannot find a way to translate that to have it make sense devoid of explanation.

The troubles return, and stop, here. Hanayama says the same "palm of my hand" line. He could be responding to what Musashi said, in which case "it's my real strength" is appropriate; or, he could be repeating himself with the "You're in the palm of my hand" bit; or, he could be saying that this is an area in which he excels; or maybe something else. Since "it's my real strength" ambiguously matches two of three, I went with that. Who knows.
