I don't think we can generalize the earth squids in the same way as the space squids. The earth squids have been coexisting with earth humans for a long time now. If the space squids encounter humans on earth again, they would logically assume that they are the same as the federation unless the sea squids can somehow still communicate with them.

-Series in certain ways is clearly inspired by gunbuster

The only other good thing that could be said is if you are new to the "Naive/Foreign MC slowly has to adapt to the new society they wind up in" scenario you might enjoy that. Everything else is really bland.
