Chester's suicide had more to do with Chris Cornell's suicide, on top of what he suffered earlier in life. He probably also had a pretty severe chemical imbalance in his brain, in part due to depression, and really bad drug abuse. The guy admitted to taking 11 tabs of acid a day, and since I do drugs somewhat avidly (inb4 lmao weed) I can tell you that is an obscene waste of money to be trying to trip that hard every day, which I can go more into detail about if your curious. He was also sexually abused for five years by an older friend when he was like 9 years old and never spoke up about it until months before he killed himself.

I don't think it sounds really bad just...really simple. It took the style of a lot of pop songs like Closer where it just had a very simple beat, barely any harmony at all, and had people sing over it. It sounds empty to me. Not to mention that even though their lyrics were always pretty edgy and sad, the rhythm of their songs was always upbeat and fast, and this now it's slow and empty.

I don't think they are wrong for trying to adapt. Hell it's admirable trying to be eclectic and try new styles of music, not to mention it must get old playing the same shit for nearly twenty years. However I think they can sound better while still trying to be appealing to modern music.
