Is the bunny girl from the opening actually Riko's mom? She has the same white feather and long hair as her, and the eye colors match. She also appears right after the mom disappears and joins the team on adventures to protect her.
It makes a lot of sense.
This post has to be a pretty high contender for the stupidest fucking thing I have ever read.

My favorite thing about it is that it shows that he's regained at least some of his humanity.
>>160039920
That's debatable. He's still soul swapped too far to return to the way he was. That just happens to be a spare more human-like body. Every swap only pulls him further away. That look of his is more due to realizing that his ideals were not strong enough to beat that of Rico and co.

>I think he's demented enough for this to be believable.
It wouldn't be out of character, considering he truly remembers the names of all the children.
He could have gone off the rails and just not care beyond them being cartridges and cattle to be used and discarded, it would fit with his clear loss of humanity and complete lack of morality in his scientific pursuits, but Jesus, the guy remembers every single name, every single kid, and the way he talks to them, it's just like a doting parent wanting their children to reach their potential.
>>160039853
He can't make them anymore, no more lolis to turn into juice boxes. Not to mention that his lab and equipment were destroyed afterwards, so he probably couldn't make anymore even if he had the lolis. He also no longer has a body capable of withstanding violent encounters with anyone or anything anymore.
Riko & Co. completely demolished his ass.

>He also no longer has a body capable of withstanding violent encounters with anyone or anything anymore.
I wonder about that. There was that Praying Hand who was dealing with the insect swarm, it looked quite capable. There was nobody left with fighting potential in Idofront but there could still be a number of elite Praying Hands that were currently away on a mission.
>>160040207
probably are those crystals in his harnds, same goes for the helmet and he could also have one in his core.
>>160040207
Perhaps he is drawing energy directly from the force field, getting stronger as they descend.
>>160040278
Those Praying Hands were all more meant for mundane tasks compared to the perfect body to survive a return trip from the bottom. The larger loss for him is a good 80% of the Idofront. Lots of equipment, relics, and resources.
>>160040331
If he was absorbing more energy, the symbols on his helmet would change.
>>160040299
Makes me wonder, depending on the nature of his power sources, what really happens when he runs out of Incinerator shots... because if it's individual batteries powering each part of his body, I don't see what the worry is that he'll die or cease functioning if the counter on his head runs out.
If anybody knows how to charge him up again in Layer 6, it'd probably be Faputa.

>Perhaps he is drawing energy directly from the force field, getting stronger as they descend.

Mitty was pretty clear on wanting to die.
Mitty and the other Curse Sponges are all full of all the bad stuff and suffering. Nanachi and the people in the village got all the blessings.
Nanachi became the ideal cuddlebunny because she's been lonely her entire life.
Bondrewd became fluffy because Nanachi's cuddlebunny form symbolizes the greatest scientific breakthrough of his life, the culmination of all his work. He became fluffy because he wants to be Blessed, and the only Blessed One he's ever seen is fluffy.
And Faputa looks like Stitch because she never wants to be left behind.

One thing I may have glossed over while reading the manga: How do the curses affect Narehate? Because from what I recently saw reading chapter 42, it looks as though Faputa can take a several-meter-high jump onto her Big Daddy robot without an effect, even though there's an extremely restrictive curse boundary for Riko and a jump that high outside the village might kill or sponge her (though iirc the limit is roughly 10 meters high and that jump couldn't have been more than 6)
Majikajya also said that Faputa "Can go anywhere," either implying that she isn't restricted to the village, or that she truly has no restrictions as to where she goes, at least in Level 6.
Are the Blessed Narehate unaffected by the curse? Or are they just less limited in movement? The dialogue so far has more or less said that the curses only really affect humans.

Speedreading retard here
Nanachi speculated that Reg's helmet symbol tells how many charges he has left, and that he likely had only 3~ left before he powers down and maybe loses memories.
I haven't been paying attention to his helmet gem, and I had a bit of trouble understanding what exactly happened during the Boneboi fight. Did he get his charges back using the power plant?
>>160038672

Shit, at the risk of tarnishing myself as some sort of speedreader, I don't think we've ever actually seen her being affected by the curse, even if only slightly. >>160040940
She's very familiar with it considering she brought Mitty to the 3rd/4th layer. Probably practiced before she left.
>>160040940
The scene in Chapter 23 where she's dragging Mitty back up to Layer 4 seems to suggest that she has at least very strong resistance to the curse. This is probably helped by her ability to see the force field, but even ascending up Layer 4, she should be hemorrhaging all over the place, all the way up, with blood dripping from every orifice. But there is nothing but a couple of drips, which given her emotional state could just as easily be tears.
When Reg grappled Riko to safety on Layer 4, never mind the poison, there was blood coming from everywhere.
>>160040869
Nanachi mentions she is used to the fifth layer curse, apparently being able to see the forcefield helps
>>160040562
But you don't need to space out every single line.
>>160041198
Isn't then less dangerous?
I mean 4th layer makes your anus bleed and gives you a really cool hairstyle.
>>160040968
Because the people making the anime picked up the manga because they liked the juxtaposition of cute kids in horrifying situations. Guess it was too much to hope for that they would play it straight for once. But these are just things we'll have to deal with if we want to see Bondrewd animated and in color.
>>160040809
>>160040879
Thanks!
Early on Riko wrote that he seemed to recharge off "food or electricity," and the conversation where Nanachi pointed out the charges seemed really tragic, so I was under the assumption that the way to recharge his weapon was unknown technology. For me this reinforce the "one-way" nature of the story; they can't go back, they permanently lose limb and get scars, and there was no way to reload Reg. So I had doubts that he was actually recharged from the power plant.
What are you basing the "around 10" shots on, though?
>>160041239
From 5 to 4 is the loss of self
From 4 to 3 is blood everywhere.
Also Nanachi can see the curse fields so she can actually avoid being cursed entirely under ideal circumstances.
>>160041268
To be honest, if Riko made the ED, this is probably close to how she would do it, considering how she views everything.
>>160041264
>gives you a really cool hairstyle.

>>160040615
I want to rub her outie until she climaxes
>>160041275
Not that same anon.
If food does recharge him, then it doesn't fill him up as much as either of the times he drained power from locations.
The "around 10 shots" was a comment from Nanachi after the Fluffy BaneDarn'd fight.
>>160041275
he had 2-4 shots before he juiced up on the ENTIRE Idofront.
Remember that the first time he got charged, he caused Orthus to blackout.
He CAN be charged, but they don't have the means and it isn't really important right now.
>>160041268
Put it this way: If they'd just come right out and said that it was going to be a Happy-Go-Lucky Spelunking Adventure anime with some liberal helpings of Psychological Horror, that would probably decrease the viewership since a lot more people will just write it straight off if they see tags they normally don't like. With this at least, they'll retain at least a few more people. Small sample size, but it worked on me. I'm not into horror and gore, but this is already rapidly becoming one of my all-time favorite series. I didn't even know how horrific it was until I started reading the manga.
>>160041241
Why did Nanachi took Riko glasses? They wanted to draw her with them?
>>160040645
They can sense the folds of the forcefield, how can you have missed this when Nanachi spent a chapter explaining it.
Faputa can jump as high as she pleases because there's no forcefield in an-cap paradise.
>>160039506
Serios question though
Is Bone Dad ok after all?
Its like I've read a line saying like is iver fir him, but not sure.
Has he posessed a retarded zombie after losing all of his competent bodies and became retarded or what?
Is his intelligence lost?
>>160041353
Maybe, but they've already said that's the reason they picked up this anime. Riko would not gloss over the fact that she bled everywhere and broke her arm. This ED has Riko and Reg coming to Nana's doorstep like they're asking their neighbor for sugar.
That's not just misleading, that's a straight up lie.
>>160041386
Phruska said it, also prushka, ozen and director have that double color pattern style.
>>160041429
She was checking for damage, and the lens help with resisting the curse.
>>160041386
That may be incorrect. Prushka's hair and the injuries Ozen hides with her hairstyle are the results of the Layer 5 curse. It seems Layer 5 also causes minor transformations in addition to sensation loss, which leads me to believe that the Layer 5 and 6 curses are part of the same overall effect, or maybe since Layers 5 is so shallow, the Layer 6 curse bleeds slightly into Layer 5.
>>160041275
>What are you basing the "around 10" shots on, though?
Sorry for the delay, pic related.
>>160041264

>>160041279
From 5 to 4 is loss of self, to be sure, but it doesn't affect you when you cross boundaries, it affects you when you ascend more than around 10 meters.
>>160041442
I know they can sense it, I'm not that much of a speedreader fag. But Faputa doesn't spend a lot of time in Ancap Paradise because she doesn't like the Narehate that live there. She spends it outside, where the curse is in full effect. What happens when a non-human breaks a boundary? the massive birds in Level 6 can likely sense it too, but they're animals. Do rugs drop out of the sky if a bird takes a wrong turn upwards?
>>160041411
>Remember that the first time he got charged, he caused Orthus to blackout.
Oh, huh. I was under the impression that Reg was just in a "deep sleep" and the shock from the chair just happened to be extreme enough to wake him up. I know this sounds really dumb, I didn't make the connection that he was completely out of energy/"dead" and the electricity recharging him was the only reason he woke up. Neat.
>>160041641
No, it's when you cross boundaries. This was explicitly explained. The curse is like heavily layered, incredibly fragile fabric

The life of the body that became Blessed is destroyed. The means to create a new Blessed body is destroyed, and so is his research.

>>160041641
>>160041609
Ah, you're right, Faputa's throne room is outside the barrier.
Since most creatures (and Nanachi?) seem able to ascend there must be gaps to pass through. It's also implied that you can develop resistance to the mild effects. I suppose just like humans and other animals don't walk into walls, creatures that can sense the curse naturally avoid it. We see that when Nanachi is throw into the air haphazard she is affected.

Anon, stop.
The curse occurs when you move upwards (I believe it was around 10m) through a part of the forcefield until you break through. The forcefield permeates most of the Abyss, and is not limited to the boundaries between layers.
If the curse only applies when you cross boundaries, that staircase in the Idofront wouldn't have given Prushka and Riko the 5th layer's burden.
>>160041740

I'm actively pointing out that spreading such copypasta at places where animeonlies congregate until they actually believes it is a much more enjoyable activity than shitposting those in here where most of the regulars are mangareaders. Here, it would only resulted in shitposting trawling for (You)s, whereas out there, there might be people that actually can end up believing such theories. Those secondaries making crackpot theories based on falsefied inputs shall provide enjoyment to us in return.
I have an awesome idea.
Built a ferris wheel with the axis located between 4th and 3rd layer, and name it Bondrewd Wild Ride.

10m might be the distance from first contact with the field to when you rupture it.
That is to say once you encounter part of the forcefield, you're fine, and can even move around relatively freely, but once you move upwards around 10m after touching the field, you get cursed.
Like you said, this obviously isn't applicable if you avoid the field all together.

>>160042876
They have gunpowder, given that Peace Phobia is referred to as such. I imagine guns would be fairly useful on the upper levels, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were common there.
That said, they'd be iffy to useless against the mind-readers of the lower levels who would just never be where your gun is pointing.
>>160042736
There's a good chance the curse is emanating in a spherical layout, so if you move sideway you'll eventually hit it rather than escape it.

3 as if there was anything better
>>160042736
>preferably somewhere that wasn't the ocean
good fucking luck with that. There isn't much landmass around the abyss.
>>160042925
That makes no sense. The curse is't at the layers, it's everywhere, and they specifically said it's weaker away from the central shaft.
>>160042976
>Mamamateora
She's one of the biggest problems.
>2 it is airing right now
It's still not two from one season.
>3 as if there was anything better
There is, try stuff and find out.
>>160042925
It's been stated that the further you move away from the center column, the less of an effect the curse has, and it seems to drop in effectiveness very quickly. Remember, the lower levels are only maybe 4km in diameter. Bore far enough away from the center even at Level 6 and you'd get away from the curse there eventually. But then you have things like geothermal heat and the ocean to worry about.
>>160042876
It's just that humans in this universe can get stupidly strong compared to normal humans which is the reason why they wouldn't need things like guns. Actually a melee weapon which will let them demonstrate their superhuman strength would work better than firearms.
>>160042876
Firearms are incredibly loud and delvers focus on stealth. It's impossible to dispatch all the threats so you can only avoid them. If you use a gun to shoot something small enough that it can be harmed by bullets, you'll probably end up attracting something big and mean that a bullet can't kill.
>>160042736
There is nothing but ocean around the central shaft though.
>>160042924
That's what shotguns are for. I can imagine if Ozen have to fight Tamagauchi, she'll just throw lotsa pebbles or just hypervelocity pocket sands. Try dodge that.
What I see missing from many delvers' kit are yes, shotguns. It can be loaded with slugs to kill big fauna, birdshot for...smaller birds, and grappling hooks for to plant anchor far away.
>>160043116
Shotguns, contrary to what your beloved trash AAA FPSes have told you, have basically no spread at short distances. It does depend on the choke and the gun, but you're generally not getting more than a foot of spread for every fifty of distance.
>>160042924
Forcefield sensing works by predicting intention and dodging accordingly.
If your reaction speed and bullet velocity are fast enough to retarget the tamauguchi after it dodges, it's fucked. It would completely throw itself into offensive because it knows.
im not into shota but that Reg...
>>160043105
And therein lies the problem. Given the technology the MiA civilization has access to (the transmitters they have at those sizes require precision machining and silicon photolithography) I can think of ways around it but it would require the outside governments to stop having their relic pissing contest with each other.
>>160043116
see >>160043058
Also, no weapon can help you against the curse.
Although, didn't that one Orth guard in episode 1 have a rifle?
>>160043058
Even if not firearm, we only seen only one person using Crossbow, another multipurpose weapon: Riko. Nowhere as powerful as shotguns, but it is more silent and many kind of bolts can be launched from it, e.g. Kuongatari Larvae Bolt against Bondrewd, Poison Bolts, Tranquilizers, Bodkin Points, Broadheads, Grappling Hook, etc.
And about sound, some non-Praying Hands delvers of Black and Moon whistle ranks in Bondrewd's employ do use burning charges against Kuongatari - they just didn't make it and get roasted by Praying Hand's flamethrower.
Saying that, I believe Reg's Incinerator isn't a silent weapon as well, but its Reg. Bondrewd isnt your usual delver either.
>>160038215
>top 3 are actually the best 3 characters in the series
Surprised at the amount of good taste.
>>160042904
you talking shit about fate apoc bro that shit is lit
The water isn't very deep around Orth. The bottom lies around the layer of the Inverted Forest, which is growing upside down because the roots go up into the ocean. That leaves a lot of room for a vertical shaft to cheat the curse.
>>160037664
Faputa is Riko from 2000 years ago. The world is constantly experiencing a groundhog day loop that lasts for 2000 years. Riko is the current incarnation of Faputa. And if Riko fails to reach the Abyss, she becomes the next Faputa.
Kind of like GrimGrimoire. Or Blazblue: Calamity Trigger.
https://youtu.be/E0P2PzwHms8
>>160043303
> The bottom lies around the layer of the Inverted Forest
Do you have the source for that? Because that image clearly shows the water going deeper than that.
>>160042876
Some aspects of Delver tech are fairly advanced, but others are much more primitive in comparison, and a lot of the more "modern day" stuff they have is pillaged from the Abyss, like the glowstones they use as lights.
Given the level of weapons found in the Abyss (lasers and shit), they probably aren't liable to find any firearms. With that in mind, any guns would probably have to have been invented by the delvers themselves, and would have a much lower complexity level than artifacts, probably being similar to muskets.
Since a musket would be pretty fucking useless in the Abyss (large, heavy, inaccurate, slow to reload, requires all sorts of extra supplies, might not even kill whatever you're aiming at and hoping to hit), they probably wouldn't even take a gun, even if they existed. Even Bondrewd, pretty much the pinnacle of Science in the Abyss, made what was essentially a dart launcher (Shaker Needles) or a laser (Sparagmos, Gangway), and didn't bother to create any sort of gun.
>>160043287
Fate is garbage.
The only positive entries are KNK and F:Z and I'm particularly upset to see Ufotable one f the greatest animation studio wasting their talent on that shitty universe.
>>160043166
So what would be better weapon anyway if you're not White Whistle with superpowered Relic weapon? For shotguns, its advantage is its versatile loadout which can shoot many kinds of shot. 20cm-ish spread at 10m is still much better hitting propability than a single shot.
>>160043303
Only one tree so far is known to have roots that reach the ocean, and it's the biggest. That still leaves the nastier curses past the 2nd Layer.
And honestly, knowing the Abyss, I wouldn't count out the possibility of some undiscovered thing fucking up any way to bypass getting burdened. Remember that botched airship expedition?

Maybe YOU should analyze his motivations and actions properly. Nanachi said it from the start: He is insane, but his actions followed a clear logical path towards him becoming "blessed". His affection towards Prushka and the other kids were needed to get someone to take on the curse so he could become a narehate that would keep its mind (which is all he is). He never cared for anybody but himself.
why. why did something so endearing have to simultaneously be so genuinely disturbing.
why did reg want riko to shit in the middle of the elevator so bad? also where's his arm?
>>160044020
He cares anon, not 100% sure, but love has to be a two way in order for the blessing to work. It was the machine zoaholic that fuck him up as his aspiration gets prioritize.
>>160044227
The bond needed for curses to be transferred must be mutual.
Besides which, you still don't see the point of Bondrewd. He doesn't represent blind curiosity, nor does he treat science as merely a means to an end. He celebrates science, and takes joy in it in all forms. Not just his own work, but appreciating the accomplishments and progress of others.
He is twisted not because he does not care, but because he only recognizes positive feelings: warm and fuzzy, sheer joy. Pain does not register to him, whether it is of others or his own, and because of that he has no reservations about harming those he cares about to further science.
>>160044227
If his affection was completely fake, he wouldn't have remembered their faces, names, personalities, hobbies, and so on. That's what makes it more fucked up than him being a garden variety villain who simply uses others as a means to an end.
>>160044227
That isnt even his motivation.
To become fuwa would be easy for him with his cartridges alone, it's not what he is after.
He wasnted to solve the misteries of the abyss, 2000year cycke, and it's curse.
He obviously wanted Regu's body because Reg could eadily go down to the bottom and back up again easy peeze.
As for Prushka he raised her with love expecting superior perfotnance from power of love, doesnt mean he didnt actually love her.

>>160044329
Thats never even suggested. The machine transfered the curse to one person who had to chose to hold out or the other person would get cursed too. Same thing with the catridges/suit. He used Prushka and himself for the last ascend and she took on the curse because she believed his affection.
>>160044349
Of course they do if they hope to gain something from it.
The sixth layer curse was the curse He couldnt beat with his artifact because it would attack his mind instead of his disposable body. Thats the entire thing about him. Also worth mentioning that the reason Nanachi is able to treat Riko after they face the porcupine is because Bondrewd made her learn for her to be his assistant. Also worth mentioning that because of his research, Riko is able to use a Life Reverbering Stone to get to the 6th layer. This means that indirectly, Bondrewd actually did help them to get through despite proving himself as a terrifying adversary. The effects of scientific progress and schooling triumph once more.

Since the curse isn't so bad as long as you dont try to ascend, the actual danger of the abyss is actually mostly the wildlife. So, why not systematically exterminate it either directly or through habitat destruction? This way stable infrastructure can be set up even well into the lower levels.
>>160046041
Bonedad did that with Idofront.
Not a lot of people want a one-way ticket into the abyss though
>>160037664
SPOILERS, MOTHERFUCKER.
>>160046031
Y-you mean your daughteru, right?
>>160046041
>direct extermination
Wildlife too stronk. A single porcupine can kill over 100 people while surviving a blast from a weapon that completely unmakes things, while a large group of very experienced and powerful delvers got wrecked when dealing with a shitty insect infestation. And there's far more crazy shit out there that we haven't seen. I think that Riko & co. have actually had a comparatively easy time of things, maybe because the abyss wants her to get to its bottom.
>habitat destruction
Not really something they can do at their tech level. They may actually have tried, by introducing foreign species like the hippo. And once you get past the second layer, the ecology gets completely alien, anyway.
There's also little motivation by the various countries and delvers to do that, as making the abyss less hazardous would destroy the value of artifacts on the open market. Remember what Oz said about what would happen if they were to trivialize the danger of the abyss via some mechanism such as mass-producing Regs.
Riko is really cutecan't wait to hear her scream in agony as her arm is snapped by Reg and almost amputated
>>160046041
If I had to take a guess, it's probably because it'd be just too hard to do, and wouldn't really be worth it in terms of risk vs. reward.
For the 1st layer, there's typically nothing that's of danger to delvers. Occasionally more dangerous creatures rise up from lower levels, but layer 1 is basically easy babby mode.
Layer 2 is huge, not by depth, but by surface area. Judging by pic related, it's roughly 5-6km in diameter. It's also not hugely dangerous for more experienced delvers, so trying to clear it out would be a lot of work for not a whole ton of benefit.
Layer 3 is basically a clean 5km deep, 1km wide vertical shaft (how the fuck did Ozen and Lyza get the box up through this thing). Due to terrain and the introduction of much more dangerous predators, it's again too much of a huge pain to clear out. In terms of ranged weapons that aren't priceless artifacts, all that delvers seem to have are crossbow-tier weapons, which wouldn't be terribly effective weapons against things like the Scarlet Maw. When all these monsters can move freely in 3 dimensions and your delver team has generally ineffective ranged weapons and no freedom of movement, you're gonna have a bad time.
The 4th layer is like 2+3; it's easily the largest overall layer above the absolute boundary, and has monsters that can read the flow of consciousness; there's no real feasible way for delvers to clear out an area that's like several dozen times the size of Orth where every little thing is trying to kill you, even the terrain.
The 5th layer is much smaller than the 4th, and Bondrewd cleared out most of the immediate area surrounding the Idofront similarly to what you described, but horrible nasties still exist out beyond the area he sterilized. A good chunk of the bottom of the 5th layer is ocean anyway, which is pretty much off limits to delvers unless they want to risk getting the 6th layer's burden.
Below the 5th, shit gets crazy.
Would you a moth?
>>160043409
Before firearms became good enough to reliably kill a target, it was common to wear a saber or dagger for self-defense. The delvers seem to be weirdly unarmed.
>>160046382
I wouldn't be surprised if Lyza used her weapon to rocket boost the two of them straight up the shaft. Given what we've seen of what may be the two weakest white whistles, and that Lyza was the best of the best of the best, she must be completely broken in power level.
It could also be that they found or even created a network of tunnels that got them up, and slowly climbing almost 5km while hallucinating and puking sounds like a lotta fun.
>>160046380
I hope that the animators don't hold back on their depiction of it, but it's a faint hope.

>>160049245
>the official digital rips
What? Is it the thing?
>>160049262
That's what Reg thinks, we don't know the full details.
If I'm seeing correctly, she was already a moth in Reg's memory; and she's also implied to be immortal -unlike Nanachi- so there has to be some kind of difference.
>>160049262
I don't think being a narehate necessarily implies immortality, Nanachi expects herself to die at some point and Bondrewd said that Mitty's situation was an unexpected side effect.
>>160049139
That's just an old ship wreck that slipped in from the ocean sediment. Nothing to worry about. Orth is safe. Don't listen to the fear mongers.
>>160049739
I'm not saying she's immortal because she's a narehate. She was called "undying", was stated that she can go anywhere and the way she talked to Reg here seems to imply that she can't die.
>>160049139
Airships are a thing.
I bet like that other guy who tried to conquer the second layer with an airship, this pirate ship attempted to conquer the abyss through aerial superiority as well, he was a mad pirate king I'd wager, with a crew consisting entirely of men called Roger.
>>160049836
She has to be a different kind of narehate to Nanachi, and probably different to the villagers as well. Simple solution is that she isn't exactly a narehate but a primordial abyssal being that narehates are based on. If she was an ex-human I'm not sure she would address humans as some kind of alien entities

As the series goes on I've kinda lost hope, but the convenient thing about the abyss is everything makes its way to the bottom eventually. Maybe the mail step will have qualities that make a compass that points down useful

Why would they make such a fuss about it at the beginning and focus on it, while beating us over the head with the humble words to live by of delvers that "Everything from the Abyss returns to the Abyss"
>>160050423
I'm betting on an unexplored deeper layer having some kind of hallucinogen in the air or a weird environment that makes it impossible to tell up from down naturally, so one wrong step and you'll suffer the curse thinking you're going down but going up instead, so the Star compass would be necessary and the would fulfill the Chekhov's gun
>>160050559
I just noticed this: is she removing her bra?

>>160050615
Ah, that's a good point I didn't think of. Knowing which way is down when thinking in terms of avoiding the curse makes it much more valuable. I'm curious how far the series will go after the 7th layer. its so well paced now I don't want it to get pulled into a ton of dragged out arcs
>>160050824
I foresee an 8th layer and not much beyond that. 9th would already be stretching it and more than that would be blatant padding, but 8th makes a lot of sense because it's the hidden level every adventure needs to be complete.
>>1when you're a manga reader and saw this thread
>>160050738
I still prefer her line of thinking was along the "you... you've forgotten me? then... I will MAKE you remember" tangent. I hate to see them saf, but for some reason I want to see Riko and Nanachi getting cucked so badly.
>>160050866
The Bottom is said to be some sort of a golden city, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a path in there to something akin to a Core layer that's protected by the Gatekeepers.

>>160050991
>Reg is quick to secure her with his arm.
Best boy. He has turned really capable after Bonedrewds fight.
>>160050921
I feel like that city needs to be either dead, abandoned or a shell of itself for them not to get dragged into some sort of internal conflict ark. The idea of maybe one final "destination", but not necessarily layer after 8 makes sense. The author seems to have his shit together in terms of planning out the story, and as hard as I'm trying to be cynical about it I'm genuinely excited to see how it ends

After all the suffering and torture they've all gone through, they've become extremely competent at navigating and dealing with situations even in the deepest, darkest corners of the abyss.

those were the ones who'd been in the "curse transferrance" chambers - Prushkya was one of the orphans who'd been in the "other" chamber of one iirc.
the thing with the curse's differing in how far you can go up and stuff is due in part to how far from the center of the abyss you are - idolfront is literally positioned dead center in the abyss, so the curse hits at a lower height.
At the upper levels, not only is the curse field more attenuated (and thus there's large ascent distances needed to trigger it) but the delvers all operate right up against the edge of the abyss "walls" where the field is weaker anyway.

the narehate are generally shown to look pretty distinct, and we (and nanachi) saw mitty right after her transformation.
she also showed up in her human form during riko's fever dream, so unless the author is rusing us, it's mitty.
>>160053343
There is on the last page of Chapter 42 a small glimpse of what appears to be a "returned" Desire-Mitty in Ancap Paradise. One of the Three sages is using her, presumably as a rug or a blanket. Perhaps that was her desire...?
>>160052665
>I... I'm gonna pay you back for all those times you rubbed me so lewdly you naughty boy...
>>160053422
Giraffe didn't even call it a narehate though, and "using it" implies it's not subject to the NAP like the other proper citizens. He said it was a "warm bundle of curse". Perhaps the way narehates like Nanachi are produced, which is apparently the old way, involves human sacrifice such that the one receiving the "bad part" of the curse doesn't become a real narehate.
I don't know what her desire was, but giraffe implied it was used to protect Nanachi from the curse and not to modify her body and turn it into a desire-body. That's why neither Mitty nor Nanachi have bodies that take on the form of their desire, the method to make them was different.
