This is pretty classic Jigoku Shoujo though, I'm sure it happened before in the series, but it's been way too many years since I watched it all, so I have to admit I don't remember if it did. I'm sure it did, because this series always had a really bitter aftertaste of reminding you that everyone makes mistakes, that people can repent for their sins, and that eternity is a really damn long time compared to a single lifetime on current Earth
