I downloaded the subs for the sequel series for the original, Mahojin Guru Guru Doki Doki Densetsu, and they are so fucking bad. They don't even get the names right half the time, the sentences make no sense and its obvious that they aren't done by native English speakers, probably south americans. I'm watching it alongside the modern one, and they're both good in their own ways.
The biggest difference is that the 2017 is a LOT faster paced, which means that while the jokes are back-to-back, things inevitably get skipped/left-out.
For example, this episode was equivalent to episodes 4, 5, 6 and most of 7 from the 1994 anime.

Regarding obtaining it: scans will probably be hard to find. If there are any, it would probably require scouring Perfect Dark or something (...do people still use Perfect Dark?). The book itself, however, isn't. The use of romaji in the title makes it actually stand out somewhat on Japanese sites and while it's out of print, used copies appear to be pretty easily found. There's also an eBook version being sold.
